We finally got our camper. Ended up abandoning the 5th wheel we wanted due to rising costs and got a Grand Design Imagine 2670MK. We really liked that it has a built-in desk, fireplace, "televator", kitchen island and a 12-volt 10-cu ft fridge with solar. It doesn't require a compressor (10 cu. ft instead of 8 like a standard two-way) and cools in 3 hours. It's a little big for our first camper (32 ft), but the wife wanted our 2nd camper first. It pulled really well from the dealer in Park City to Hutch, even in 15-20 mph winds.

It's more of a "couple's camper", with theater seating and stand-alone table and chairs (no additional sleeping area). We only have one kid still in high school and will use an air mattress when she or grand kids come with us.

That's a nice floorplan. Bet it feels yuge in the main living area with the opposing slides.

Once we get a free weekend we'll do a shakedown trip to Sand Hills. This summer/fall we'll probably not venture too far: Cheney, Kanapolis, Wilson, etc. Might have to try Marion. There's an RV resort near Halstead we've talked about going to, as well.

Marion, Council Grove, Wakonda, Kanopolis.

Marion and CG were the best. We had a spot that felt secluded and backed up to the lake.

If you enjoy camping in a wooded area, Big Hill Lake in SE Kansas pulls off a decent impression of an Ozarks like. You won't believe it until you are within a mile or two of the campgrounds, but it is a nice distraction from what we normally have in Kansas. The primitive campground at the north side of the lake, and the US COE full service campgrounds on the east side, are our favorites. The state campgrounds on the west side are decent too, but a little less private and wooded.

Definitely! Thanks for the suggestion. My wife is from Pennsylvania and routinely laments the lack of trees in Kansas. We have done some hiking at Elk City and Perry state parks, both with decent amounts of trees to give it that "not in Kansas anymore" vibe.
