Here's another (long) video regarding Eastwood. While I can sympathize with Jonathan/June as a person, there is a lot in the video that discusses the pro and con on transgenders competing against "born" females. They try to make the point of "a bigger body" now powered by a "lesser" engine helps even it out. However, Jonathan was a top track athlete in Montana and had a scholarship for the men's team and competed (successfully) for 2 years. Jonathan had an injury, sat out from competition for a year while undergoing the (NCAA) transition to female and female competition. While am I not saying the injury was the only reason, the timing I believed helped in June becoming a top "female" runner.

Ostensibly, the NCAA has a policy in place to protect cisgender women athletes and prevent male-to-female transgender athletes from dominating the women’s category. The NCAAtransgender handbook states that an MTF transgender athlete must take “one calendar year of testosterone suppression treatment” in order to compete in the women’s category, but the vagueness of that statement is remarkable. There is no mention of a minimum testosterone level that must be achieved or a minimum level of medication that must be taken, nor how those levels are to be monitored. Contrast that to the International Olympic Committee, which requires that an MTF transgender athlete “must demonstrate that her total testosterone level in serum has been below 10nmol/L for at least 12 months prior to her first competition.”

Perhaps what needs to happen (at a miniumum) is for the NCAA to adopt the IOC standards for allowing MTF transgender athletes to compete as a female The IOC standards certainly seem to be more scientifically based and provide a measurable standard that must be met.

Man I lost it when I saw that picture. I knew the story and I've been paying attention....he's a KID. Let the kid be a kid.

Parents (and all adults) who use a child for their own selfish goals are the worst. I pray this is the only time we see this, and I know it won't be.

Thank GOD at least one adult was able to step in and actually BE the adult.
