The US should have won easily, but that's why they play the game.
I don't agree with this. I watched Japan in other games and they looked very strong. Their attacking was high in technique relative to the rest of the field and I told my pop there was a good chance we will lose this game. If they play it again, I still think Japan would come out on top. They just have that good of an offense.
Well the USA had some high% opportunities in the first half to score and they either didn't convert or hit the goal. They convert 25% of them and it is a easy win. If the U.S. doesn't panic and just clears the ball properly on the Japanese first goal they win anyway - but they didn't.
My daughter said she thought the game was boring and she would rather watch the men play.

And if Rampone (my favorite of the team) doesn't kick the ball straight to etc etc to start that sequence. Yes, Rapinoe knocks an easy chance wide of the frame and Abby skies another great chance after the score is 2-2. Japan is easily the sentimental favorite, but if the US finishes even marginally better ... . But that is why the play the game.

The MWC has become a flop-athon. Great skill, but they are embarrassing the game.

That's my point. Japan is loaded with talent that CAN finish when the opportunity is there, relative to the competition.
The Japanese _technical_ game is awesome. The US _tactical_ game is usually excellent but failed at the stretch.
Japan's shooting is high in technique relative to the competition and their set play tactics are well designed.
In the end Japan's technique (ability to finish opportunities) outdid the US's tactical game.
There really should not be a surprise here, if you watched the Japanese in group play.

This was the only game I watched. It was either go out an mow and edge or watch the match. After much consideration I decided sitting around in a cool house even if it was watching soccer was just a little more enjoyable than battling the heat.
