2011 Heat - Race to the Record

Looks like we should hit 100 today as well. Our board here is showing 99 at the moment. I see a forecast of 104 tomorrow and some high 90's early next week that very well could push into the 100's. Not sure how late the 100's are capable of hanging around, but by the end of next week it looks like we could be at 45 days. I was hoping to break the record with how the year started, but it's starting to look like we may fall just a little short of that.

The humidity is really high today so it will be close to whether we get to 100 today or not in Wichita.

I thought for sure the record would be broken, but the heat can last into mid-sept so just as quick as it broke a little it could rebuild just as quick.

The official temperature at Mid-Continent Airport is 96° so it still has a couple of hours to work with.

102 at dodge, heat index at 101 (dewpoint at 57 compared to 69 at Wichita). Drier air seems to be moving in so it possible that the official Wichita temperature will spike late in the afternoon.

Interesting. Weather.com is showing 33% humidity and dew point at 65 here. They're also showing us at only 99 with an index of 103.

Is Wichita still at 43? I know we've hit 100 here at least once since the last update. Looks like the forecast has about 5 more days to add this week. A record is still indeed possible!!!
