I'll wait for the official update, but I think August has two 100+ days. I went out today and was met with 105 or 106, depending on sources and their locations at 1:00 PM. It was very hot. But we have a cooling front coming through so it's only supposed to get to 102 or 103 tomorrow, I may need a sweater.

A weather station in NE Wichita hit 114.3 around 330pm. It's usually within 1 degree of whatever the official temperature was.

The official temp @ Wichita Mid-Continent Airport was 111 today so no all time high temperature record (yet).

My car's temp has been within 1 degree of the official high pretty much every day for a month, on one side or the other.

For whatever reason yesterday, it read between 115-119 from the 330-600pm range.

It may have been 111 officially, but yesterday was a little different kind of hot.

We hit 115 on the board here. My girlfriend sent me something from a weather station in Wichita that read 114.5 and at the time we were only at 113 here. Either way, it sure was hot.

Scary to think that if the high temps roll back to around 95-100 we might be thinking "this feels great!" Unless the humidity jacks up of course, then it could be 90 and feel awful.

It will be. The heat index is supposed to be 110 with the actual temperature at 102. So it's going to feel about the same as yesterday.

Edit: It looks like they're expecting a little more humidity, so they've downgraded the high to 100, but the highest heat index has increased to 111.

We're getting close to this maybe being over for the moment.

What you are looking at is the map of the winds at around 18500 feet above Sea Level.

The jet stream is dipping down across kansas shunting the massive ridge that has been over KS away, hopefully for a while.

A boundary will set up somewhere across SC KS, depending on where you could be in the 80's or in the 90's but 100 degree temps look out of the question.

Precip chances may exist, though I am not too high on them because of subsidence on the backside of this trough.

                        Nightly MCS activity maybe

It will feel humid though, so it may not feel quite like the respite we want.
