HG with her 4th bomb of the year off to a nice start.

    Good job, Ladies.

Let's see what we can do tomorrow with a re-match with UTA and a game against Texas Tech. A great opportunity for the Shocks to build some momentum and confidence.

If anyone wants to see WSU future Rachel Milnark play she will be at second base today when the KC Peppers play the Wichita Mustangs in the winners semi-final bracket at 1pm at the Mustang facility. While you are there, take a look at the batting cage on the east side about where the pitchers protective net is. That is where her home run lit yesterday. Winner goes to the finals, loser has to come back through the brackets. There are or were 10 team in the tournament with top players from Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri in it.

The Shocks and the Mavs go to the top of the ninth, tied at 1. The GameTracker link is below. Breezy pitched the first five innings, giving up a run in the fourth. Katie started the sixth. Kiersten had a pinch-hit, RBI single in the sixth for the Shocks.

Interesting they walk the bases full to set up the DP with WSU's cleanup coming to the plate

We both score in the tenth. Gert has a bases-loaded ground out for an RBI, but UT-Arlington scores a run on an error at third on a sac bunt play. (A subsequent single makes the run earned.) On to the eleventh.

Shocks win it 3-2 in 11 innings.

Great job by Brianna and Katie scattering 4 hits over 11 innings.

Brianna went 5 innings giving up 3 hits but striking out 8 while giving up only 1 earned run.

Katie went 6 innings (INCLUDING 4 TIEBREAKER INNINGS) allowed only 1 hit and 1 earned run. Outstanding.

                  Shocks 3-2(11) UT-Arlington

Note: The International Tiebreaker went into effect in the eighth inning of this game.

Lindsie advances Sammie to third with an infield single, and Holly supplies the sac fly. Ground out, ground out, fly out and the Mavs fail to score in the bottom half of the eleventh.

Following Breezy's five innings of three-hit ball, KA gets the win with six innings of one-hit ball. Brittney and Lindsie each have two hits.

With Katie throwing a lot of ground balls (eleven of her eighteen outs were ground outs), she will tend to do well in tiebreakers.

                            We been lied to.

But here are the game reports. We lost the second game to Texas Tech, 2-1.

ARLINGTON, Texas - The Shockers finished just one run shy of posting an undefeated record for the weekend at the UT Arlington Classic. The Shocks outlasted the host team, UT Arlington, in an 11-inning thriller on Sunday morning before falling to Big 12-foe Texas Tech, 2-1, in their final game of the tournament.

The run was earned. All sets of Rules for whatever governing body have this statement or its equivalent in the Rule for scoring: "Earned runs are determined by reconstructing the inning as if there were no errors or passed balls." Based on the verbiage from GameTracker, the single subsequent to the error that allowed the run in the tenth to score makes that run earned since the single would have scored the runner from third even had there been no error.

I doubt that the automated scorebooks that schools use have the smarts in their algorithms to calculate earned runs according to the Rule above. And I understand that UT-Arlington will report to Wichita State that the run was unearned and that it will go in the season stats as unearned. But according to the Rule, ...

Caveat: I obviously was not there, so the GT verbiage may be misleading or incorrect.

Shocks drop a tough 2-1 decision to Texas Tech.

                                Another solid outing by Kasha.
