WuDrWu thanks for the updates!
It was a very exciting meet, the women had a specific gameplan and it went about as well as it could. Basically if you look at it most of the points were scored by abour 5-7 girls but the difference of 6 points came from all around the team. It was an all-out war against SIU, last year the Salukis edged WSU, this year the Shockers paid them back!
Highlights ...
--Audacia Moore, Tonya Nero, and Leah Thompson put this team on their backs and carried them to the title. Moore and Nero scored 28 points each (Co-MVP's) with Thompson scoring 23 points. 79 of the 151 pts! What an amazing effort by these girls!
--Cassie Craig scored 14 pts (PV, 60h) whle Tish Brown added 14 as well (LJ, HJ).
--The 800m was a significant event with WSU getting 8 points from two girls (Fornshell and Kea) that have never scored before.
--Freshman Tanya Friesen had an impressive first MVC meet with a 3rd place in pentathlon and scoring in the high jump.
A terrific effort by the ladies, that makes 3 of the last 5 indoor championships coming back to WSU (2006, 2007, 2010).
I also gotta believe the all-sports trophy is all but locked up after the weekend.
Way to go Shockers!!!
