I would like to see Jody go the same way as HCGM, and start bringing in taller guards. In women's basketball, to really be competiitive (ala Texas, Tennessee, or Conneticut), you need guards that are aournd 5'8" or taller.

Check out #30 on this list. I wonder if coach Adams is aware of her and if the Shox are recruiting her at all.

Interesting....also listed is Asia Dozier, who I'd be willing to bet is related to, if not the daughter of DJ Dozier of SC High School fame and I believe had a twin brother....maybe Depaul or Clemson?

DJ Dozier... now there's a name from the past. Wasn't there also an athletic department ‘snafu’ that prevented him from ever stepping foot on campus? My memory is definitely fading. :(

Nationally competitive? That is an awful big jump for a program with -0- tradition and coming off of some very lean years including back-to-back last place finishes in the MVC. Plus I think it will be some time before we see parity in the women's game.

Right now I would settle for an MVC Championship, an occasional trip to the NCAA or NIT Tournaments and a top 100 RPI. We are still a long ways from those goals, but I think they are attainable. Once we reach and sustain this kind of performance for few years then maybe we can set our sights higher.

I think HCJA is on the right track in trying to recruit better athletes. Of course, all other things equal a good big athlete trumps a good small athlete.

As far as tall guards go we have Haleigh Lankster (5'9"), Morgan Boyd (5'10") and Alicia Sanchez (5'9") on our current roster. New recruit BreAnna Dawkins is 5'8". New recruit Krystle Henderson is 5'5", but that will work at the point if you have enough quickness and skill.

She sounds like she has the same attitude that made X such a great player! Hopefully she will make the trip to Koch with X on January 3rd when we have the MTXE celebration against Bradley.

Kinda funny how things like this start and then what you find:

The Virginian-Pilot: Your source for Virginia breaking news, sports, business, entertainment, weather and traffic

DJ Dozier was a football star (not basketball but did play baseball) at Penn State where he led them to a National Championship in '86, chose football over baseball and after his career was done went into business with.......

Former Wichita State star and MLB pitcher Tyler Green.

I still have to figure out the basketball twins...there were 2 sets.....

One of the articles said her father was Perry Dozier, who was a center at South Carolina. It turns out he also has a son, in addition to his two daughters, who is an excellent baller. Wow, it is amazing the things you can dig up.

Yeah, once I saw Tyler's name I forgot about that reference.

I still think there is a connection between twin players, WSU, maybe Coach Fogler and how he lost his on air job, Dozier, South Carolina, DePaul and Clemson (whew!).

Perry & Terry Dozier went to South Carolina and I THINK were recruited by WSU.

I'm pretty sure I was remembering Horace and Henry Grant at Clemson and Oklahoma.
