I'm talking about the fans here, not the players. I know their situation. However, I think some of the fans here are at least wondering about Adams' tactics after swearing allegiance to here (vs. me) a few weeks ago.

let's be honest, there were not a lot (if any) true D-1 athletes on this roster when jody took over - why are you surprised then when she purges said roster? jody was brought in and paid to turn the program around. sorry if feelings get hurt, but she's doing her job

as far as the players leaving, i believe jacie is actually a senior (she's had 2 medical redshirts, right?), so she may be done with her education anyway. plus, she's dating anthony capra, formerly of the baseball team - i'm sure she'll have no qualms about moving on with her life after graduating

i've talked with someone who has talked with val, and she was miserable most of the season and couldn't be happier with no longer being on the team - jody is obviously a defense first coach, and no matter how good of a shooter you are, if you don't play defense, she's going to be riding your butt

there's a reason jody has been around such successful programs (wake, auburn, minnesota, tennessee) - how any of you can make any assumptions after 1 year with basically jane's players is absurd

I think the issue being discussed is not do we want to "get there", but how do we "get there".

I am fine with any way which involves class and dignity and which brings credit to the university.

And yes, of course, I am being incredibly naive about the real world of D-I intercollegiate athletics.

And, yes, I am completely unaware of the thoughts of the players involved and their desire to be part of the program (both of which ultimately count for nothing) and am working from appearances.

So be it.

And btw, though I am disappointed that this approach was deemed necessary, I *will* be renewing my season tickets.

Jody is getting her team together. I don't think we ahve all of the information about why people are leaving so I think it is best not to make quick judgments. Jody is a good coach everyone can see that and as far as her personally...she seemed like a good person in the brief conversation I had with her.

i, for one, am willing to hear from adams about her side of any story.coaches often are in the unenviable position to publicly defend themselves in the court of public opinion.

I will admit to having absolutely no information regarding players desires to be or not to be part of the program nor do I really know Jody's thoughts on the matter.

In any case, I will be renewing my season tickets next year, although I am not anticipating, regardless of what happens to Jacie and Val, much, if any, improvement in our record next year. Just too many newcomers to meld together and not a real strong core of players returning.

Our WBB program has fallen to such low depths that perhaps what it needs is a major shake up in order to began a recovery.

If Jody continues to lose players en masse in the future, when she is dealing with her own recruits then we have a problem.

Which is why this type of information is usually not allowed here. I made an exception in this case largely because player defections (for whatever reason) have been the proverbial "elephant in the room", as it often is when a program's reigns are handed over to a new regime.

However, any potentially harmful or derogatory rumors (ie. things that go beyond what one might resonably expect) regarding why the roster turnover is happening, whether it affects players or coaches, will probably get deleted.

Jazimen Gordon of West Memphis, Arkansas made Arkansas All State 1st team for her class for the second straight year and Chyone Turner made Texas all state 1st team in her class. Looks like pretty good recruiting.

I am sorry I made a mistake. I looked back and it was Michelle Price and that made all state in Texas and Turner.

This is all very interesting... Clearly there is a major reason why so many people have decided to leave the program. I dont think this is an issue to be taken lightly. If you look at her track record, Jody has not been very well liked at her previous programs... (SIU, Murray....) There is probably reason for that as well...

1972, I have a bit of an issue with some things you said... You are very quick to try and force blame for these players leaving because they were Jane Albright recruits. That doesn't mean squat as far as I'm concerned, when 9 players leave a program within a year something else other than who they were recruited by is going on, whether it be the current coach or not 9 players don't leave programs within one year. I don't care how much coach Adams works the girls there's always programs elsewhere who work harder and coaches are tougher, so maybe there is more goin on behind the scenes than basketball you ever think about that? Oh and you don't have to point out to us that you were not a big Jacie Hoyt fan, you posts throughout the year proved that for everyone who paid any attention. Namely how quickly you were to point out when she had a rough game, and yet somehow when she had a good game she was absent from your posts. Yet then you turn around and say that you could never question her effort or heart so what gives? What did she do to rub you the wrong way? Frankly I think you try really hard to understand the game and give reports, but you don't know much a bout the game.

The bottom line for me is SOMETHING that we don't know about is going on with this program for 9 people to leave. Keep in mind these 9 people didn't leave as soon as Jody was brought in, they went in phases... some early, some in season, now some after.

I wish the best to the girls who left, and also to the program, I do wish success for Jody as well, I think she has a very good basketball mind and can bring a lot to the table, I just hope it's being done in the right and fair way.

This is the only post I will make regarding this topic, as far as I'm concerned this season is over and now it's on to next.
