After the second run was walked in the Shocks still had the bases loaded with only 1 out and could not score again.

Hopefully, that will not come back to haunt us.

Yep. The Cardinals changed pitchers after walking in the second run. The first pitcher walked four of the six batters she saw.

And now the bases are loaded with one out on three more walks (!) in the top of the third.

A sac fly by JamieS and a single by Brittney plate two more runs. On to the bottom of the third with a 4-0 lead.

After two outs, a single, stolen base and two infield singles score a run for Ball State.

          Shocks, 4-1 after three complete.

The Shocks add six more in the top of the fifth.

A JamieS single, Brittney double (RBI), Kiersten triple (RBI and the first triple of the year for the team - she should lead the team at the end of the year), Kara single (RBI) and error on the hit, Heather single (RBI) and JamieH homer (2 RBI) do the damage.

Run-rule if we hold them to one run or less in the bottom half.

Kasha strikes out the first two batters in the bottom of the fifth (for a total of five for the game) and Breezy comes in to get the last out. Whatever.

I suppose she has to get practice coming into the middle of a game. First batter gets an infield single, but the next batter is out on a comebacker.

              Shocks win 10-1 in five.

Kiersten with four hits including a triple and Brittney with a double, single and two RBI and Ball State issuing seven walks lead the offense. JamieH also had the two-run knock.

And now the Razorbacks finally get to play their first game of the tournament - the fourth game in their brand new stadium.

Arkansas opens against Bradley and Ashley Birdsong, the Braves' ace and a preseason all-Valley pitcher.

Shocks take care of business today and are well positioned.

2 good outings by Kasha today. She has been very solid now in 4 of her last 5 outings. No home runs given up today.

                  Arkansas' facilities are quite impressive.

I have to say that so far this year I have been pleasantly surprised for the most part with our offensive production.

                  Good luck tomorrow Ladies.

We have the same schedule in this tournament as we did last weekend in Denton - we play the two (probably) weakest teams on Friday. Hopefully, our Saturday this weekend will be more productive than last.

Of the five hits she gave up, only one was for extra bases and two of the singles were of the infield variety. Plus twelve Ks and a walk and a HBP in 8.2 innings.

                        Later Friday scores:

                        Arkansas 10-5 Bradley
Arkansas 1-0 Ball State (suspended in the top of the sixth, to be completed Sunday am)

At 725am Saturday, the temperature in Fayetteville is 31. Forecast for the day is low-to-mid 30s with NNW winds 20 to 30 mph and a chance for snow showers (although those are to the east currently).

Ahh, softball in the spring ... well, winter actually. We will see if they go ahead and play in those conditions.

All games on day two are delayed. As the article notes, coaches are meeting now to determine the schedule for the rest of the tournament. I assume we will lobby for playing Arkansas, but not Bradley since they are a Valley opponent.

We had a very light dusting of snow this AM also, but the worst thing is the cold and the WIND. Sun shining now, but the combination of cold and wind would make playing baseball /softball brutal.

Our baseball game wih North Dakota State was also cancelled today.

Yeah, Fayetteville is very very windy too. Last night at the baseball game was brutal. Seems like whenever the wind blows in from left field our stadium just catches it and whips it around right at me. lol

It's been snowing all day and quite a bit has accumulated. The temps aren't supposed to be much above freezing tomorrow, if at all. I don't know if there will be any games tomorrow.
