    High Jump results in now.

    Selena Burns ties for 6th @ 1.56. Stephanie Hammond was 9th @ 1.50 and Cassie Craig was 12th @ 1.44.

Again, my apologies if my info is wrong or I miscalculate but it would seem that is not a good height for Stephanie at all but a PR for Cassie.

      Shot put done.

Good results from the Shocks. Craig and Hammond go 1-2 and Selena Burns holds on to 4th overall.

I don't think I'm misfiguring but I think that was a PR for Selena and Stephanie. Just under a PR for Cassie.

Cassie is in 6th and Stephanie in 10th. It's hard to place any stock in the standings though....I don't have any idea who is strong in the last 2 events.

But being on or close to PRs is usually good.

With so little to go on it's tough to project but it looks like Cassie is on her way to a nice finish for herself and the team.

2 events left to decide the event and the womens weight throw is up. That should be a sweep for SIU.

            Long jump in.

Selena Burns hasn't competed this season in the long jump and it showed. She was last and almost 60 points from 9th....that's too bad.

Cassie continues to perform well. More than a foot and a half over her PR. Stephanie also had a PR....more meaningful for the Senior.

With the last event (the 800) remaining, Cassie stands in 5th, Selena in 7th and Stephanie in 8th.

Selena will need to be tough in the 800 to secure a point or two for the team. Stephanie should run well and solidify her spot....Cassie is not a great 800 runner so moving up is unlikely.

              Every point counts!

                Disasterous 800 for the Shocks.

Although Selena ran well and so did Stephanie in comparison to their PRs, Cassie did not and the other competitors blew by them.

UNI takes 4 of the top 5 spots overall. WSU scores only with Selena Burns at 6th.

                  Weight Throw:

As expected, SIU swept the top 3 and 5 of 6. 4 throwers made the NCAA provisional distance.

If any WSU thrower competed (and I don't think they did) then they did not make the finals.

                    Long jump and 5k upcoming.

I believe Kellyn Johnson will compete, which should be good for us.

I am hoping (expecting) big things from our long jumpers, LaTaish Brown and Brittany Hemphill.

The only other event that will score tonight is the distance medley relay for both men and women.

The women should dominate, if Kellyn does burn out in the 5k, and the men should be right in the mix.

A sweep and we should be in for a good finish....losses and I fear that 4th is as good as we will do.

Now THAT'S what I'm talking about!

Kellyn Johnson goes 16.11.77 and takes the Valley title over a solid field.

She defeated Pasca Cheruiyot from MSU by 22 seconds. Kellyn made the NCAA provisional time (16.45) and just missed the auto qualifying time of 16.09.

Now, for comparison, here are some other times:

Desiraye Osburn had the UNI dome record: 17.04.21

The Valley Meet record was 16.41.33 set in 1998

The MVC ALL TIME record was 16.15.43

                      WAY TO GO KELLYN!

Also, Irene Kosgei finished 6th and Kimber Lemon just missed scoring in 10th, Great job ladies!

PS Kellyn shaved 42+ seconds off the school record today.
