Speaking of softball recruiting. I was in Oklahoma last week at the US JWNT friendlies and heard the shocks were trying to pick up a transfer pitcher who saw time at a big time d1 school as a freshman who is looking to get back to d1. Anyone hear anything?

As for Butler players, to say they are not prepared to play at the next level yet they routinely beat Division 1 teams each year in the fall, doesn't make a lot of sense. I think a more accurate statement is that Butler players are not a good fit for WSU because the two coaches have very different philosophy and style.

It doesn't make sense. Of course, I'm still having trouble trying to establish that someone did, in fact, make such a statement.

I'm pretty sure I read it on this board in the past. However, if you look at the players they have sent to the DI level, there hasn't been much success in the
past. Not to say that will be the case going forward.

Just off the top of my head from back when my kid played at Butler, pretty sure Supak, Weiss, Bocstiegle, Navarro, Freeman, Earley, Gunther all had very successful D1 careers after Butler. And more recently Wurts, Eck, Dean, McCoy have been very successful. Every one of those kids would have helped this program.

How would you describe their differing philosophies and styles in women's softball? Philosophies and styles are very general statements without specific, defined action statements/plans. Please put it in specific terms.

HCKB has announced the hiring of Elizabeth Economon to replace departing assitant coach Nicole Entz.

Coach Double E was the head coach at Pitt State for the past 5 seasons. She shares her alma mater, Truman State, with Coach Bredbenner. Looks like EE might have been a freshman when HCKB was a senior at Truman State.

Looks like a pretty strong hire especially considering her 5 years of head coaching experience at the D-II level.

Here are Coach EE's college stats during her 3 D-II All-American years not that they tell us much about her coaching abilities. But looks like she could hit a bit at least at the D-II level.

                    Year...Avg..R..H..2B.3B.HR.RBI.BB
                    2002 .513 47 80 12 . 3 .13.49 . 24
                    2003 .414 45 65 . 9 . 2 .16.59 . 31
                    2004 .404 48 59 . 9 . 0 .18.50 . 61

After seeing her picture with the Pitt State team in the goShockers.com announcement I was thinking she was probably a good defensive player and a singles hitter or perhaps a slapper. Maybe it's the camera angle but she looked pretty small in stature. I was surprised to see her home run and RBI numbers.

Great hire! Liz did a great job at Pitt. I know several kids that played for her and they all had nice things to say.

Saw on social media that Schulty signed with LSU.

Great for her! LSU is clearly a very, very good program. (And now I think about the win over them the Shockers gave away this past spring. :( )
