I don't think Class of 2018 can sign an LOI until this coming November. Hard to say when additional details will be forthcoming. Assuming this commitment is fulfilled we have doubled our 2018 roster from 1 to 2 players.

WSU Ewa Laskowska‏ @CoachEwa 1h1 hour agoJust got great news from future Shocker! First big piece to class 2018

I would think that this first signing would have eked out by now. Curiosity is high. Paul is too busy with the AAC maybe?

Technically, at best it is a verbal commitment until November.

Any signings, if there are any, for the Class of 2017 will have to happen by May 17th.

Of course, players can be added for next season after that but won't be locked up with a LOI.

The Oklahoman is the number one source for Oklahoma City breaking news, politics, business, sports, entertainment and obituaries.

Apparently, the transfer of high profile players from high profile programs is becoming pretty common place anymore. That said most of these higher profile players are transferring from one high profile program to another. I suppose a lot of this is due to the instant gratfication generation.

In any case, the chances of Wichita State nabbing one of these high profile players from a high profile program seem pretty slim to me.

That said there probably are some worthy transfers out there that Wichita State would have a reasonably good shot at.

The Spring (late) signing period ends on May 17th (next Wednesday). That said Wichita State may or may not sign anyone in the next week. The Shocks have a roster of 9 experienced players returning next year and possibly 10 if Kayla Williams' absence from the current goShockers.com 2017-18 roster is just an oversight which it could well be since there has been no knews that Kayla will be leaving the team.

Even if the Shocks don't sign anyone to a LOI in the next week that doesn't preclude them from adding players up until the start of the semester. They just won't be locked up and I don't think the coaches can talk about them until they are enrolled in that case. However, I would think they could report any verbal commitments.

As far as the Class of 2018 is concerned the Shocks might get a verbal or two early but usually the summer leagues/tournaments (AAU) and evaluation events run through August. At that point most players will narrow their list of schools and schedule their official visits. Again some verbal commitments might be forthcoming but the early LOI signing period will run from November 8 through November 15 this coming fall.

I got kind of a kick out of this article: Bruce Weber's Approach to Recruiting http://www.kansas.com/sports/college...149796944.html I always thought his strategy was to hump 3G's leg and offer the same kids WSU does.

Did you intend to post that here or on the Wichita State Recruiting Forum? Probably a better fit there.

The bosses can move it wherever. It's late in the day, I'm not paying a lot of attention to things this afternoon.

Makenzie Calvert former 5* guard out of high school is leaving Kansas University and will be eligible Immediately. A guard with some serious talent we should take a look at, she would have two years eligibility left as well

Calvert is a bit unusual because she is a grad transfer with two years of eligibility left. She played at USC her freshman year. Transferred to an sat out a year and Kansas and then played this past year for KU. It was her car that Josh Jackson damaged and caused a big to do. Give her credit for graduation in 3 years. Must be a good student. Her numbers in Big 12 play though were underwhelming and her playing diminished significantly as the season progressed. No real surprise at all that she is transferring. Whether she is wothy of pursuing or not is something Coach Keitha will have to determine. I think I would rather have Ericka Mattingly if I had to choose between the two although we have plenty of room for both.

If Calvert really is a strong student then I would think her decision will be largely impacted by what field she want to pursue in grad school.

I saw an article today talking about Nancy Mulkey. Basically they see her as a project who might be better off at a mid-major where she can get some minutes on the floor. If that is accurate then perhaps she is in play for Wichita State. Again whether or not she is worth pursuing is up to the Coaching staff. As the article pointed out height is always good, good height is always better. If nothing esle she should definitely be able to change some shots and block some shots. Probably worthwhile just for the intimidation factor.

If we get any of those, it'll be Mattingly. Probably should give up on the idea of Middleton, it's a long shot at best. Wouldn't hold my breath on Calvert or Mulkey either. I'm sure Mattingly will be pursued, as for other recruiting, probably best to look elsewhere
