The Bad News: UNI's Paige Knodle broke the MVC scoring record of 4,126 points that Shocker Breanne Borman had set earlier this year with a score of 4,138 points.

The Good News: Breanne put up an even better score of 4,178 points to set win the Pentathlon and sent a new MVC standard.

Even Better News: Shockers Gavyn Yetter, Marteisha Caines, Jenny Pinkston, Claudio Rojo finished 3rd, 5th, 6th and 8th to give the Shocks a total of 24 points in the pentathlon and get their quest for an MVC indoor title off to a good start.

The Pentathlon includes the 60m hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jum and 800m run.

72, you're confused, Knodle broke the MVC meet record in the Pentathlon, she did not break the all time MVC Pentathlon record, your gal Borman still holds that record by 4 points

72, now I'm confused, on the MVC site listing the women's record it has Borman listed as the all time MVC record holder in the Pentathlon with a score of 4142, but at the Jack Jennet invite at UNI she scored 4121, which would have been the new all time record.

Then Knodle, the UNI gal, scored 4138 yesterday with Borman 2nd at 4133. So does Knodle now own the all time MVC record, and the MVC meet record with that 4138 total?

I can't find anywhere where Borman scored 4178 points

I heard the guys talking about how a jump for Borman was originally scored, then later upon protest turned to a scratch. AND a jump by Knodle was originally ruled a foul, upon protest was reversed and allowed to count.

I didn't exactly catch the details though and offer NO certainty in what I heard.

Sounds like every one is confused. The bottom line is that the order has changed from what was initially posted with Breanne Borman switching positions with Paige Knodle on the podium.

So instead of 24 points the Shocks earned 22 points in the pentathlon.

Shocker Freshman Rebeccah Tophham finished 2nd in the mile run at 4:55.19. Kayla Deighan finished 9th just missing the scoring column.

Taylor Larch-Miller ran a strong 60 hurdles race at 8.31 but she was nipped by UNI's Paige Knodle who put up a new All-Time MVC record of 8.24. Shocker Senior, Taylor Thomas, picked up 2 points with a 7th place finish. Knodle may be well on her way to the meet's Most Outstanding Female Athlete.

The Lady Shocks did not qualify anyone in the 400m or in the 800m runs.

Taylor Larch-Miller was 4th and Deja Young 6th in the 60m dash collecting a total of 8 points.

Taylor Larch-Miller finished 4th in the 200m run.

So. Meghan Holmes picked up a 4th place finish in the triple-jump.

Fr. Kelly Slawson was 7th in the shot put.

Sr. Page Suhlstatz was 6th in the pole vault.

After 13 events the team scores are:

UNI - 71.33

Breanne Borman wins the open high jump with Ashley Peterson finishing 4th.

Jr. Sydney Hirsch finished 4th in the 3K.

The Shocks trail Illinois State 111-105 with I think only the 4x400 relay to go. Considering the Shocks failed to place in the 400m race things are not looking very good for a Shocker championship.

Illinois State won the 4x400 to clinch the women's team title. The Shocks finished a solid 3rd in the 4x400 including a really never-say-die effort by Taylor Larch-Miller on the anchor leg.

Jr. Breanne Borman, the WSU record holder in the pentathlon, will compete in that event at this weekends NCAA D-1 T&F Championships in Birmingham, AL.

Breanne runs an 8.64 in the 60 hurdles to open her pentathlon. While that only puts her in 12th place (out of 16 competitors) I believe it does tie her PR so that is a good start for Breanne.

UNI's Paige Knodle, the Valley pentathlon champion, ran a 8.42 and is in 7th place.

An interesting sidelight is that there are 16 competitors in the pentathlon. 8 of those are from SEC schools including 4 from Arkansas. The only other conference that has more than 1 competitor is the Valley with 2.

Currently warming up for the high jump. There are two flights. Breanne is in Flight 2 so it will be a little while before she is jumping.

Borman misses all 3 attempts at 5-7.25 so she'll settle for 830 points and a 5-6 clearance.

Not Breanne's best effort. She cleared 5-8.75 at the Valley Indoor Championships.

K-State's Akela Jones blows away the competition in the pentathlon high jump clearing 6-6.

Breanne ended up 11th in the high jump.

Breanne finished 8th in the shot put and currently sits in 12th overall after 3 events.

Breanne finished 11th in the long jump with a leap of 18-10.75 and continues to sit in 12th placed overall with the 800 remaining.

Breanne finished 13th in the 800 and held on to 12th place overall at 4,003 points. That was 91 points ahead of UNI's Paige Knodle who won the Valley Indoor pentathlon. Even if Breanne had hit her PR of 4,155 she would not have finished better than 10th. Coming in Breanne was ranked 16th but the 5th ranked competitor was a scratch so Breanne was the 15rh ranked athlete in this event. So finishing 12th was not a bad result for Breanne.

Congratulations on a very find Junior indoor season to Breanne.

Both Breanne and Jared earned 2nd team All-American honors.
