Game 1 in Cedar Falls: INS 3 - UNI 3 after 7. Extra innings coming up.

After INS retired the 1st two batters in the bottom of the 7th UNI scored the tying run on a single, an error by the SS and a single and had runners on 2nd and 3rd before getting a ground out to 2B to end the inning.

To begin the fifth, the Ramblers brought their starter back in for three straight Shocker outs. Loyola managed to load the bases with three singles off Kelsey but could not score.

UNI defeats INS 4-3 in 9 innings after scoring an unearned run with 2-outs in the bottom of the 7th to tie the game.

In the Rambler sixth, a leadoff double brought Jenni back into the game. She gave up two walks to load the bases with no one out before getting out of the inning, the last two outs coming on a strikeout and a pickoff at first by Melanie. Jenni followed with a three-up, three-down seventh.

Game Two

Surely Katie gets this start, but I cannot be here for the beginning to know for sure. Layne gets the start in center and Ashley moves to right with McKenzie sitting. Macklin remains the DP.

Loyola scored in the first with a double and single.

The Shockers tied the game in the second on doubles by Liz and Layne. They took the lead in the fourth on a Melanie single, sac bunt by Layne, groundout and infield single by Brittany.

In the sixth, Loyola tripled with one out, but Katie got a pop up and groundout to end the inning.

Shockers lead 2-1 as we go to the seventh.

The Shockers bought some breathing room in the top of the seventh. Kelli singled but was caught stealing for the second out. Mackenzie followed with a single and after Macklin walked, Cacy unloaded a three-run homer.

The lead is now 5-1 as we go to the bottom of the last.

Katie hit a batter but was unscored upon in the bottom of the seventh.

Katie allowed five hits and no walks, striking out six. Cacy's homer was the big blow with Kelli and Liz each having two hits.

With losses by Missouri State and Northern Iowa tomorrow, the Shockers can get second place and a double bye in the Valley tournament with a win. With a loss by the Shockers and a win by Southern Illinois tomorrow, we slip to fifth and receive no byes in the tournament.

Indeed. Something else to pay attention to in terms of seeding is the weather. Next week looks wet here for the tournament which has an impact not only on when games are played but how many are played as well. Shocks need a top four spot to stay ot of that first round which, if weather his hard, could be cancelled. Top two seed is even better so that if a defacto final game is the only to be played because of weather, we are in it.

Regular season finale underway at Loyola.

The Shocks loaded the bases with 1 out in the 1st but only managed to score 1 run on a 2-out infield single by Liz Broyles.

Loyola has loaded the bases with 1 out in the 1st on a single, double and error by Cacy Williams at 1B.

A base hit to CF scores 1 run but the Loyola runner from 2B is thrown out at the plate.

The next Loyola hitter lines out to LF to end the inning.

Hopefully, Katie will settle down the rest of the way like she did in Game 2 yesterday.
