  • Kansas search update: UALR's Joe Foley and Wichita State's Jody Adams are in final mi

@SwishAppeal: Kansas update: Joe Foley (UALR) & Jody Adams (Wichita State) in final mix, announcement coming soon #ncaaw

Yesterday, there was a report that Stephen F. Austin's Brandon Schneider interviewed for the vacant Kansas post. Well today, there is a new report confirming what sources have told Swish Appeal, that the other finalists are Joe Foley and Jody Adams.

I was surprised she wasn't a candidate at Georgia. Not many jobs opening this year, this might be the only threat for her services...

KU was paying Hendrickson $500k per year. The annuity will have little impact on Jody's decision to stay or go if she has the opportunity. If she has not withdrawn her name at this point she will be gone if she is KU's pick.

If Jody were to get the KU gig for big bucks she should send a 10% kickback to Alex Harden.

If Jody does leave, I would suggest ADES take a long look at Hutch coach John Ontjes to replace Jody. I understand this is just a what if game, but John has a track record at Hutch that is unbelievable. I'm not the greatest at math, but I think Hutch has only lost 3 or 4 games in the last 3 seasons. That is remarkable.

What other candidates can you guys see filling the job IF Jody does leave?

John Ontjes sounds like a very interesting prospect.

Not sure if Jackie Stiles (now an assistant at Missouri State) is interested or even ready for a head coaching job. Probably not.

Maybe former Heights coach Lane Lord who has been at Pitt State for 8 years. He spent 9 years at Heights and and 3 years at Barton County before going to Pitt State.

Jody's compensation package at WSU is quite good. I don't know this for a fact but my guess is it's far and away the best package in the Valley on the women's side. Heck I think it is the equivalent of 2 or 3 of the head men's coaches in the Valley.

We should be able to attract some good candidates. I really don't have that good of a feel for the pool of candidates that would be available to WSU.

Lynn is pretty competitive. Maybe she would take the job just to show Gregg how to do it right.

He would be good but I don't see WSU prying him away from FGCU. It would be a sideways move at best and talk about climate change. He is making $200k per year and FGCU is currently renegotiating that.

He was a finalist from the Oregon State job in 2010 and also at Indiana and Illinois in 2012.

A great candidate but a very long shot IMO. My guess is if he is going to move it will be for a good P5 job and not a Valley job where going 29-5 and winning both the Valley regular season and tournament championships for 3 consecutive seasons and coming off a real challenge to #3 seeded Penn State in the NCAA the previous years earned you a 13 seed and a road game on the left coast with a team that has 2 top ten WNBA draft picks.

He has all but 2 players returning from a team that was 31-3, ranked #21 nationally and was a 7 seed in the NCAA Tournament where the beat #10 seed Oklahoma State 75-67.

And he loves it at FGCU. http://www.news-press.com/story/spor...turn/25798553/

This one just isn't in the cards.

Another name that would create a tremendous amount of interest similar to a Jackie Stiles but is also very limited in terms of coaching experience would be Lynette Woodard.

I have no idea if Lynette has any interest in coaching and she would somewhat of a risky hire due to her lack of experience. I heard she was uspet that KU passed her up for the KU job when they hired Bonnie Hendrickson.

Again, maybe not the best qualifed but certainly one of the splashiest hires you could make. I think Lynette is 55 years old which also puts her at about the limit of what you would want to consider age wise I would think.

I don't really think this would go anywhere just throwing it out there FWIW which ain't much.

Don't be shocked if Deb Patterson got a look if it opened. I'd also look at Tennessee asst Kyra Elzy who is a former asst at KU. Head coaching experience at DI may very well win out though. Doubtful we would see someone who is a project without DI experience. If you look at past searches.

Hard to say. I don't recall that Daryll Smith had any D-1 experience. Jane Albright had a solid D-1 resume and she was a disaster. Jody only had 1 year as a head coach when Jim Schaus hired her and she inherited a very good, experienced team at Murray State so that was mostly a caretaker year of experience.

You have to look at WSU women's basketball in a totally different light from the men's program. They are in a totally different pecking order.

I agree we are unlikely to look at coaching neophytes like Jackie Stiles or Lynette Woodard even though I threw those names on the table. I do think a solid head coaching track record will be preferred but not necessarily limited to D-1 experience and they would, of course, consider D-1 assistants from strong programs. ADES did hire Kristi Bredbenner from the D-II ranks for the softball team so their is that recent history.

I would not be surprised if they looked at Deb Patterson although at this point I can't get too excited about her.

Hard to argue with any of those points 72' . Guess it boils down to how you spin the amount of potential this program has. A lot of that is handicapped by the league we are in, way more so than the men.

No Deb Patterson please. Would much rather have Ontjes than her.
