Sometimes you are just overmatched. However, I knew the Shocks would give it everything they had and they did not disappoint in that regard.

You have to admire the toughness of the Gang of Five as @flyingMoose: has coined them. For them to log the minutes they have this season was something special to observe although I wish it had not been a necessity. And it is not like the Shocks play Henry Iba basketball. The play an intense full court game.

Congratulations and thanks to the Lady Shocks for a great year. Thank you Alex, Kelsey and Jamillah for your leadership and best wishes to you all as you spread your wings and take flight. Jamillah who wore out the Eveready Bunny with her non-stop motor. Kelsey the winningest Lady Shocker player in school history. Alex the best all-around female player to ever don the Shocker black and yellow. You will be long-remembered by Shocker fans. I salute you.

Have to think she has at least a shot? I hope someone gives her a chance to make a roster.

On another note, as I was out and about running errands tonight, I tried to find the game on the radio. Instead I found baseball and the men's tournament and some nice tunes on 103.7, but no game. How is it possible that our ladies' NCAA Tournament game is not on the radio, but our plain ole conference baseball game (don't get me started on this bunch) is? Is this the work of the CBS folks? Athletics folks? Somebody has some serious explaining to do.

This is the type of thing suitors from bigger schools can point to when they try to woo a coach. I get a regular game against Arkansas Bluff not being broadcast on a huge network but a NCAA Tournament game after making it 3 straight years? Maybe I'm just old and the times have passed me and my radio by (but I still seem to have one in my car that functions perfectly), but this feels completely unacceptable.

[Edit]: If it was on the radio and I was just not finding the right channel, please disregard rant. Entirely possible since I was just trying to find it blindly without seeing it in the paper or on Go Shockers .com that it was or was not on.

          Wichita Eagle/Taylor Eldridge: Shocker Report

Harden finished with team-highs in points (22), rebounds (9), and steals (4), while showcasing the athleticism, intelligence, and play-making ability that lived up to everything California coach Lindsay Gottlieb had seen on tape.

Gottlieb was so moved by the performance that she made sure to stop Harden at the end of the handshake line.

“I told her you can play anywhere,” Gottlieb said. “You could play for us, you could play for anybody in the country.”

Personally I thought that this #4 seeded Cal team was a better team than the #3 Penn State team the Shocks faced last year. Very long, athletic team with a bull in the middle. Both teams essentially on payed 6 players. Cal had the advantage at 5 of those 6 spots. I thought the Lady Shocks gave a very good account of themselves and have absolutely nothing to hang their heads about.

Alex, Kelsey and Jamillah should be very proud of their legacy as Shockers.

Cal played the best game of their season and then went flat against Texas. Unless we win in the NCAA tourney, we won't get a better seed. We proved we can play with the best and beat good teams, but it didn't matter. It was a nice gift to Kelsey and her family and friends to see her play.

Next year: Jody is optimistic as she should be, but our big three are a huge loss. Jody said Diamond can't be guarded by Alex and JB on her radio show. I've seen her in action and Alex and Kelsey both stop her. She is a nice player, but holds the ball too much and looks to shoot before pass. For now we say nice season, fun to watch and want only the best for our three seniors. Next season, we'll start the speculation again. Let's root on our Shox men!!!

Alex and JB both put in their paperwork to attend a WNBA combine. Kelsey was invited, but she has other opportunities doesn't know if her body can play another basketball game. I believe Alex will get picked up and JB can play somewhere, I don't think the WNBA, but I hope for the best.

I see Alex doing really well and glad both have submitted paperwork to attend.
