Erin enters for Layne in left field to start the fourth. An injury? If the substitution was for offense, one would expect to wait until Layne's at-bat in the bottom of the fourth.
In the Harvard fourth, the Crimson leads off with a triple, walk and two-run double, and Kelsey is on in relief.
Ugh!! A hit-by-pitch, double steal and two wild pitches score two more runs. Then a walk is followed by a two-run homer.
Harvard leads 8-0 as we go to the bottom of the fourth.

Jenni has the start against Villanova, and we get the Wildcat ace, Kate Poppe. Brittany is in left, replacing Layne, and Macklin becomes the DP. Erin is in right as Cacy moves to first base.
Shocks take a 2-0 lead into the 7th behind a 3-hit performance in the circle by Jenni supported buy a 2-out RBI double by Cacy in the 5th and a 2-our RBI infield single by Liz Broyles in the 6th.
For some reason HCKB decided to pull Jenni in favor of Katie to pitch the 7th. Katie hit the first hitter and gave up a single to the 2nd hitter to put the tying runs on base with no one out.
After a strike-out the runners advanced to 2nd and 3rd on an uncharacteristic passed ball by Melanie.
However, Katie struck out the next batter and induced a weak pop up to 1B to end the Game.
Shocks win 2-0
Jenni has been up and down so far this year but when she has been on her game she has been very good.
Who is pitching in this one? UAB split two games yesterday, a correction from what I stated above. UAB and FIU are co-picks for first place in the Sun Belt Conference.
Erin Carney set the Shocker career record with her 26th HBP in the UAB game - a highlight of sorts.
The Shockers close out their part of the Invitational with a game against Texas State at 8am Sunday. Texas State is 3-1 in the tournament, their only loss coming in extra innings to undefeated UMass-Lowell.
