As @WuDrWu stated it was not the prettiest basketball you will ever see. In fact, it was pretty ugly at times.
I thought the win boiled down to which team had the best player on the court and that clearly was the Shockers Alex Harden, who despite dealing with severe foul trouble manage to pretty much carry the Shocks over the much bigger Wildcat team.
Still for this Shocker team to be good they need more than Alex and one or two of her teammates to show up each game. Alex was outstanding tonight and Michaela was very good also battling much bigger players. Kelsey was okay, but she also made a lot of mistakes and for some reason is playing pretty timidly especially on the offensive end. Jamillah, Alie and the rest of the team was pretty much MIA tonight.
Alex had 22 points on 9-17 FG's and 4-5 FT's, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 steal.
Michaela 14 points on 7-14 FG's but missed both of her FT attempts. She added 5 rebounds and 3 steals including a huge steal with 1:19 to go after KSU had rallied to tie the game at 46 all. That was probably the play of the game.
Alex followed that by splitting the seam at the top of the zone and hit a pretty pull up 17 footer and then put the game away as she hit 3 of 4 FT's down the stretch.
Kelsey chipped in 9 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists but she also had 4 turnovers.
Jamillah and Alie each hit 1 trey for 3 points each to round out the scoring for the Shocks. Jamillah did have team high 6 rebounds, handed out 3 assists and made 2 steals, but she also turned the ball over 6 times.
So in the previous game Alex, Michaela and Jamillah had 48 of the Shockers 55 points.
Tonight Alex, Michaela and Kelsey had 45 of the Shockers 51 points.
That lack of depth may get exposed against Tennessee next week.
