The Shocks pretty much demolished SIU in the Valley Tournament semi-finals today.
Abby Stevens and Aleks Trifunovic joined a select group of 30-match winners, and No. 33 WSU pounded Southern Illinois 4-0 to advance to its 10th-consecutive MVC women's tennis final.
Abby Stevens (30-4) and Aleks Trigunvic (30-6) became the 5th and 6th Shockers to win 30 matches in a season and this is the first time two Shockers have accomplished that in the same season.
The #33 ranked and top seeded Shockers will meet up with #2 seeded Drake tomorrow morning at 10:00 am with the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament at stake, although I think the Shockers may be good for an at-large bid. But why chance it,
This is the Lady Shockers 10th consecutive trip to the Valley Tournament finals. They have won 8 of the last 9. Let's make it an even 90% Ladies.

Boom
Lucia Kovalova and Rebecca Pedrazzi defeated Mariel Ante and Adrienne Jensen 8-3
Julia Shiller and Gabriela Porubin defeated Nell Boyd and Maddie Johnson 8-4
The other match is suspended since it's best 2 of 3 to take the single doubles point. For the record, Aleks Trifunovic and Luca Pump of WSU were on serve, trailing Tess Herder and Jordar Eggelston 6-7 when the point was decided.

The Geese walked into the proverbial straight right and are wobbling, trying to survive the first round at this point.
Julia Shiller takes the 1st set from Mariel Ante 6-0 and the Shocks lead by at least 1 break in each of 3 other matches, needing only 3 more total wins to secure yet another Valley title.

Drake has been knocked down twice now in singles, and is getting a mandatory 8 count as we speak.
Julia Shiller defeats Mariel Ante 6-0, 6-1. WSU 2 Drake 0 in the race to 4.
Gabriela Porubin defeats Maddie Johnson 6-1, 6-2. WSU 3 Drake 0
The Shocks only need 1 more win to seal the deal and they are up a break in the 2nd in 1 of the remaining 4. This is about to be called.
