Shocks capture the #1, #2, #4 and #5 singles and the #1 doubles while finishing 2nd in the #3 singles and the #2 and #3 doubles and with their worst finish a #3 in the #6 singles which were played in Des Moines.
The Wichita State women swept the first flights in both singles and doubles and claimed five total conference titles Sunday at the Missouri Valley Conference Individual Championships.
It looks like next springs MVC Team Championships will come down to WSU and Drake. The Shocks play 4 of their 7 Valley dual meets on the road next spring finishing up on April 19 vs Drake in Des Moines. The Valley Tournament Championships are held in Evansville the following weekend.
I regretfully have to admit I have never attended a Shocker tennis match but I think I will make a concerted effort to change that this year.Last edited by 1972Shocker; October 6, 2014, 06:52 PM.

The #51 Lady Shockers dropped a close, tough fought match to #27 Pepperdine today in the 1st round of ITA Kick-Off Weekend losing 4-3 with the final outcome coming down to the final few points of 3rd sets in the No. 1 and No. 3 singles matches.
No. 51 WSU had No. 27 Pepperdine on the ropes but couldn't deliver the knockout blow. Pepperdine rallied to win the final two singles matches for a thrilling 4-3 victory at the ITA Kickoff Weekend.
I'm not sure about his but Shocker Jr. Rebecca Pedrazzi may have set a Shocker record by defeating an opponent with the longest name in the No. 2 singles:
(2) Rebecca Pedrazzi (WSU) def. Apichaya Runglerdkriangkrai (PEP) – 2-6, 6-3, 6-3Last edited by 1972Shocker; January 24, 2015, 07:15 PM.

The Lady Shocks take on KU at the Wichita Country Club on Thursday at 5:00 pm. Free Pizza plus a chance to win a set (I guess that's 2) WSU Men's Basketball tickets (not sure which game).
he WSU women's tennis team moved up three spots to No. 43 in the Division I team listings, while the WSU men's team made appearances in both the singles and doubles rankings.
The 43rd ranked Shockers than travel to Norman on Saturday to take on the #36 ranked Sooners at Noon in what could be a real battle.

I am a little disappointed in the Lady Shocker Tennis team. All this love I have been giving them and not one of them could pick my unknown face out of 10,000 unknown faces at the Indiana State MBB game and hit a souvenir tennis ball to me right on the numbers. Maybe they aren't as good as I thought.
Just kidding Ladies, love ya and I promise to get out to at least one match this year.

Thanks for the pix. I guess free pizza works.
Just breaks my heart to see the Shocks pound on the Jayhawks though. :glee:
