In the Bradley fourth, an infield single, sac bunt and another infield single but they cannot score.

In the bottom half, the Shocks take the lead. The inning starts with small ball: Ashley slap hit to second, a Kelli bunt that L-C throws away. Then Cacy doubles them home over the left fielder's head when the left fielder takes the first step in. Shocks lead 2-1 after four.

Other commitments take me away for the rest of the day. The rest of you have to bring them home.

3-2 Bradley going to the 6th. Gotta hold 'em and figure out a way to scratch a couple runs home.

I guess we get to see if there is any magic remaining in this season. Going to take some late heroics.

4-2. Bottom 7th. Two runners on, no out. Someone needs to channel her inner Joe Carter.

                EDIT: Now one out.

Very nice year for the Lady Shocks. Certainly something to build on with a very young team overall. Still need to build up he pitching corps some although they didn't do a bad job today. We are known to give up some home runs and at least the 3 we gave up today were all solo shots and we had a chance at the end.

Thought we may have been a little over-anxious at the plate in the 7th but at least the Ladies went down swinging.

                      Friday Games

                      Bradley 4-2 Shockers

Lynch-Crumrine scattered six hits and Bradley used three home runs to end the Shocker season.

                      Loyola 4-2 Illinois State

Gardner gave up three hits and had eight strikeouts as Loyola scored three runs in the top of the seventh using two homers (three for the game) to advance to the championship game against Bradley.

Loyola, the #7 seed, meets Bradley, the #4 seed, for the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament from the Valley. As is often the case, a pitcher gets on a roll and leads her team deep into the tournament. Loyola's Gardner has given up only ten hits in her three games and has struck out twenty-two. The Championship Game is at 230pm on FSKC.

                        Radio Coverage - Yesterday's Game

Based on coverage during the game as shown above, someone was able to find a radio station so they could listen to the game. I surfed around on my radio & was never able to find the game on either 1330 AM or 1240 AM, stations that normally cover WSU games. I also checked out some of the FM stations, again to no avail. If there is to be radio coverage for a given WSU sport, it is typically listed on Go Shockers in a pre-game write-up. Can someone please tell me what radio station they used to listen to the game.

Also, in games leading up to the MVC tournament, someone would also provide a live stats website that I could click on, but that wasn't available yesterday either.

There is no radio coverage of Shocker softball. We barely have any local print coverage.

Most of the other links you are looking for can be found at the Tournament Central link posted by @flyingMoose: in the first post on this thread.

Box score and live stat links are also generally available at goShockers.com

Especially in this single elimination format.

The game article written by a stringer in Illinois. At least there was a good deal of ink for the game.

I suspect that the success of this year's team will engender better coverage next year. We lose Sloan in the circle and Ali among the field players where PaigeM is likely to take her place. Although some of the hitters dropped off from a bit earlier in the season, Ashley improved toward the end. If Katie and Jenni can grow and we can find another decent arm, we should be a major factor next year. I expect the pre-conference tournament schedule will be toughened up also.

The 2014 recruiting class has more of a local flavor. Kelsey Sterneker from Maize South is the only pitcher among the signees. She is only a mid-50s pitcher who depends on "spots and spin" as Cat Osterman says. With five signees, I wonder if all the bench players will return.
