Looks like Indiana State and Evansville did not make the tournament finishing 9th and 10th respectively.
#5 UNI will play #8 MSU and #6 Drake will play #7 Loyola in the opening round of games.
#3 SIU will get the Drake-Loyola winner. #4 Bradley will get the UNI-MSU winner.
So the #1 Shocks will get either Bradley, UNI or MSU in the semi-finals.
The #2 seeded Redbirds will get either SIU, Drake or Loyola in the other semi-final.
Tournament is being held in Normal, Illinois which has been pretty good to the Shocks this year. -
MVC Honors
Cacy is both Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year. KB, SR and SS are Coaching Staff of the Year.
Cacy, Brittany and Melanie are First Team All-Conference and PaigeL is Second Team.
Brittany Gardner of Loyola is Pitcher of the Year.

Congratulations to HCKB and the 2 Samantha's for a great job leading the Lady Shockers to their first Valley championship. I have to say they far exceeded any expectations I had for this season. To accomplish this with such a young team that IMO lacks dominating pitching is even more impressive.
Congrats to Cacy, Brittany, Melanie and PaigeL on their well-deserved Conference honors.

Missouri State 4-3 Northern Iowa
The Bears roughed up pre-season Pitcher of the Year Jamie Fisher early with a couple of two-spots and held on after a three-run, five-hit Panther fourth. Erin Struemph gave up seven hits total and struck out six in getting the win.Comment

MSU ends UNI's season with a 4-3 win in the tournament's opening game.
MSU plays Bradley at 4:00pm this afternoon for the right to play the Shocks tomorrow at noon.Comment

I'm going with the Valley Pitcher of the Year, Loyola's Brittany Gardner, in the Loyola - Drake game although 2014 seemed to be the Year of the Hitter in the Valley.Comment

Loyola 4-0 Drake
Pitcher of the Year Brittany Gardner scattered four hits, and all of the Rambler runs scored on three homers.
Missouri State 5-8 Bradley
After the Braves built a 4-0 and then fell behind 4-5, Alyson Clemente delivered a grand slam homer in the sixth for the game-winning runs. Bradley faces the Shockers tomorrow.
Loyola 6-1 Southern Illinois
This time Gardner only allowed three hits as the #7 seed Ramblers advance to play Illinois State tomorrow.Comment

I don't think if you (or anyone associated with softball) hand picked the teams they would want in the other side of the bracket that you would have come up with anything better than what the Shockers drew.
Loyola with the pitcher of the year, SIU who we struggled with and the home team all in the other half.
Not saying our girls will win (they were fortunate against Bradley earlier in the season) but it sure has set up well.Comment
