Very nice half for the Shocks. Penn State's size no doubt bothering us as I don't think Michelle has scored and it is clear we are not going to win this game in the paint. After a slow start the Shocks did pretty well on the boards.

Michaela had a terrific 1st half and we need that to continue. Alex played her usual good all-around game as well. I think we will need Alie to knock down a few treys in the second half as they may try to guard Michaela a little tighter on the perimeter in the 2nd half.

A 14 has never beaten a 3 on the women's side. Playing at the higher seeds gym probably has something to do with that.

Go Shocks. You can do it.

Kelsey and Alie can't stay with Lucas. Need to limit the time they are on her. Alex is the best equipped to handle her and had the most success in the 1st half. Alex was also playing defense in the post on a few possessions in the 1st half as well. Jody doing a nice job of mixing up her defenses.

However, I look for Penn State to perhaps attack the Shocks more in the paint in the 2nd half and try to exploit their big size advantage.

Yeah, size is the key to start the second half, not Lucas. PSU 35-30 at the under-16.

That's our only hope is to get hot again from the perimeter. Not exactly our strength but that's what's available to us.

That means we need to look for shots for Michaela and Alie and get the occasional transition basket and mid-range jumper from Alex.

One of the purposes of women's basketball is that after you watch for a while you feel better about the officiating at the men's games. Actaully, this group of ref's is much better than we usually see for Shocker games.
