Good luck to Tanya, J'Lynn and Aliphine this weekend in Fayetteville, AR at the NCAA Indoors.
NEW ORLEANS- For the fifth consecutive week the Wichita State Women's Track & Field team earned a spot in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll.

I have mixed feelings about Aliphine running both the 3K and the 5K. Not sure she has a realistic shot at winning the 3K where she ranks 11th but she has a very legitimate shot at winning the 5K where she ranks 2nd coming into the meet. Hopeully, running both races doesn't diminish her chances at a NC.

In any case, hope all three of our Lady Shockers do well and have a great time at the national meet.

        1972 Shocker,
Aliphine runs her best race (5k) on Friday night and the 3k on Saturday so it won't affect her chances for a high placing. The 3k is icing on the cake. She did both last year and finished 3rd/7th.

here is the link to the championship site. Including the links to watch all events free! Good luck to WSU athletes too. We have 3 from ISU competing. The MVC needs to crown at least one male or female champion. The MVC has crowned one male or female NCAA champion for 8 straight NCAA meets (indoor/outdoor) and in 10 of the past 12.

Oustanding stuff. Thanks for posting this. Loved it.

What is really neat is that other than Aliphine, who we are not going to disinherit, these are local kids.

Tanya is from Buhler, J'Lynn is from Wellington and Austin is a Wichita Heights product.

Hopefully, the Shocker men's basketball team will be wrapping up a victory in St. Louis about the time Aliphine takes off from the starting line.

BTW, what a great indoor track facility the Razorbacks have (paid for by all of us Wal-Mart Shoppers). No wonder their men are ranked #1 in the nation.

Indiana State Sr Felisha Johnson won the Women's Weight Throw. In fact, she had the 3 best throws of the day. Illinois State Sr Brittany Smith took 5th.

J'Lynn unable to duplicate her 6-1 jump from the Valley tournment and can only clear 5-10 to finish 14th. Just a Junior hopefully she will get another shot in the spring and next year both indoors and outdoors.

Aliphine finishes 3rd in another All-american performance. Aliphine just doesn't seem to have the closing speed to stay with the other best runners. Great effort though. Congratulations Aliphine.

9th time as an All-American as a Shocker according to Mike Kennedy.

Tonya fades to 14th in the pentathlon with 3,742 about 130 points shy of her Valley championship. However, even her Valley score would have been only good for 14th.

Future Shocker Hall of Famer Aliphine Tuliamuk-Bolton finished of a good NCAA Championship with a 6th place finish in the 3K. The 9 points she eanred in the 5K and the 3K were enough to place the Lady Shockers 24th.

Congrats Aliphine and I hope you get that NC this spring. The 10K is probably Aliphine's best race.
