  • WBB: Shocks at Bradley and UNI

Shocks go on the road to play Bradley, tonight at 6:00 pm, and UNI Saturday at 7:00 pm.

Sounds like tonights game could be WSU's defense vs Bradley's offense.

These games may tell us quite a bit about the Shocks chances of making a run at a Valley championship.

Pretty good 1st half for the Shocks although could have been better. The Shocks came out blazing knocking down their 1st 8 shots and jumping out to a 24-9 lead after 10 minutes. They, of course, cooled off finishing the half hitting 7 of 23 (30.4%) after the 8-8 start. Kesley (4-6) and Chynna (4-5) were particularly effective in the 1st half. Jessica was 4-9 but made both her treys. The Shocks were 4-4 from behind the arc as Chynna and Darice both hit their only trey attempts in addition to the 2 by Jessica. Michaela missed all 4 of her field go attempts, Jaz was 0-1 and Michelle 1-3.

Only 4 fouls on the Shocks (2 each by Michelle and Bugg) and only 2 fouls on Bradley. Bradley hit the only two free throws attempted during the half.

Bradley came back to make the score respectable pulling to within 7 points at 27-34 at the half. Bradley has doubled up the Shocks on the boards 22-11 including 9 offensive rebounds. That could be a problem for the Shocks if that kind of discrepancy continues.

    Anybody's game at this point.

The game of runs continues. Shocks went up 47-31 but now a 10-2 Bradley run has narrowed down to 49-41 at the 2nd media timeout.

Shocks up 60-58 with 2:24 remaining, but Bradley seems to have the momentum and more players capable of scoring.

Bradley misses 3 shots, but Shocks can't get a rebound. 62-58 with 9 seconds remaining. Still Bradley ball.

A little disappointing to let two big leads disappear, but any road win for the Lady Shockers is a good win. In the end, they had just enough to hold Bradley off.

Jessica with 14, Kelsey with 14 and Chynna with 12 lead the way.

Shock were outrebounded 41-28. That needs to improve.

Bradley outscored the Shocks from the line 12-17 to 5-5. The Shocks may have caught a little break as Bradley is a ver good FT shooting team, including, Katie Yohn, a 96% FT shooter who was only 1-3 and a couple of other good FT shooters from Bradley left some points on the line.

UNI up big on MSU at the half 41-23. The Shocks will have to play much better on Saturday in Cedar Falls if they want to sweep this road trip.

Good win on the road. We sweep and we are on our way. We need Alex to show her stuff. If we have Kelsey, Jessie, Chynna playing their game and then Alex plays as she can, we can win the Valley.

UNI finishes off the Lady Bears 75-52.

Odd stat of the game. UNI made 15 of 26 three-pointers for 57.7% and 16-28 free throws for 57.1%

MSU couldn't throw it in the ocean. Shooting 17-61 (27.9%) from the field and 14-30 (46.7%) from the line.
