It appears that Daniela is listed as Daniela IKPONMWOSA BOZANO on the Espana roster: https://www.fiba.basketball/world/u1...onmwosa-Bozano.

I guess she will still be Abies on the Shocker roster.

29 points and 12 steals doesn't mean much in and of itself but that was apparently over 7 games. Daniela averaged 16 minutes a game. She averaged 4.1 PPG, 3.3 RPG and 1.7 SPG. However, she was only 9-34 (26.5%) from the field and 11-16 (68.8%) from the free throw line.

Spain went 6-1 losing to the United States, who went 7-0, in the finals by 66-69. Actually, that was a pretty solid performance by Spain. The USA won the previous 3 games in the final phase by 112-36 over Argentina, 121-61 over the Czech Republic, and 80-57 over France. Daniela went scoreless in the finals against the USA but did have 2 steals in 15 minutes of play.

Hopefully, it was valuable experience for her.

Abies was fairly solid by the end of the season. Look for more of the same this year

        Shockers Announce 2023-24 Non-Conference Opponents

        https://goshockers.com/news/2023/7/2...opponents.aspx

        WICHITA STATE NON-CONFERENCE SCHEDULE
Wednesday, Nov. 1 Missouri Southern State (Exh)
        Monday, Nov. 6 at Oklahoma
        Wednesday, Nov. 8 Presbyterian
        Wednesday, Nov. 15 at Belmont
        Monday, Nov. 20 Omaha
Friday, Nov. 24 Daytona Beach Invitational (TBD)
Saturday, Nov. 25 Dayton Beach Invitational (TBD)
        Tuesday, Nov. 28 Southeastern Louisiana
        Friday, Dec. 1 Saint Louis
        Monday, Dec. 4 Houston Christian
        Sunday, Dec. 10 Kansas
Saturday, Dec. 16 at Missouri State
        Wednesday, Dec. 20 Oral Roberts

Looks to me to be a definite upgrade from especially that last few year under Keitha Adams. A noticeable lack of SWAC and MEAC opponents, although Presbyterian and Houston Christian were not good last year. Otherwise, looks like and upgraded schedule.

I guess we will have to see how it shakes once the SOS measurements are available but I would expect it to be quite a bit better then the 317th ranked non-con schedule of last year. And the Shocker won't be going 10-3 in the non-con this year like last year. It they do then I think there will be reason to optimistic about where Coach Nooner is heading.

I like our backcourt a lot. Our front court however will be unproven. Wouldn’t be surprised to see TN use 3 or even 4 guards at the same time.

Yeah, that is the 2nd offer to a young player. That is an interesting strategy. Perhaps Coach Nooner thinks his best shot is to get on these better players early to have any shot at them.

We'll have to wait and see if this pays any dividends.

As you can imagine not a whole of lot of information available on Kourtney Wright as she is just entering her freshman year in high school. Her twitter account says she is a 5-10 athletic combo guard. At her age she may not be done growing.

In any event she must have made a good impression on Coach Nooner at his recent Elite Camp including the 25 footer she nailed during a scrimmage at the camp:

Here are 40 seconds of highlights for Kourtney -- I'm guessing from her club team:

There are few other highlight videos on her twitter page.

Getting in early never hurts. Build those relationships. 3G used to do that, maybe not to someone entering HS, but build relationships early and you probably have a better chance at certain talent.

Maybe the previous staff did and we just never really saw much about it, but I like the strategy. You won't win them all and someone as young as Kourtney you never know how she will develop or if she plateaus like some kids do.

I know Coach Lamb used to say that if you waited on a volleyball recruit until high school you were already behind

I like the strategy as well. What do you have to lose? Plus it increases your chances of getting these players back to your camps on an annual basis. Only time will tell if it results in actual signings of top notch players.

Hard to say if, or how much, that has happened in the past for WBB as recruiting information is harder to come by than for MBB and generally you have to stumble across the individual players social media posts to hear about those.

Hard to get those kids from Central Europe to a summer camp. Yes, that was a bit snarky.

Apparently coach Brooke is super excited! Act enthusiastic and you'll be enthusiastic. She seems to have that base covered.

The Shockers appear to have quietly added a 15th player to this year's roster, or at least I don't recall hearing or seeing anything about her. Jordan Jackson is 6-0 sophomore transfer from D-II Texas Woman's University in Denton, TX. She is from Sachse, TX which is a small suburb on the NE side of Dallas. She was home schooled and played for the Dallas Thunder home school team.

Here is the announcement of her signing with TWU: https://twuathletics.com/news/2022/2...-with-twu.aspx

The connection appears to be that she played club ball with the Missouri Phenom which is a KC area program that most of our coaches seem to have a connection with.

As a freshman last year on a TWU team that finished 26-6 (19-3) playing in the Lone Star Conference she played in 24 games averaging 14.6 MPG, 4.9 PPG, 2.3 RPG and roughly 1 assist and 1 turnover per game. She shot 42.3% FG, 27.8% 3Pt, and 76.9% FT.

While she could be getting a scholarship as the women have 15 to give, it's possible that she contacted someone on the coaching staff to see if she could walk-on given the Missouri Phenom connection. Perhaps the latter is the reason for no announcement of her signing.

Interesting way to reveal the conference schedule. Some of them are pretty good. I think my favorite might be the Memphis Armadillos!
