Not able to confirm that as of now, but I certainly wouldn't have a problem with it. Very pleased they are going after some of our Kansas kids.

Yes. Not only going after them but hopefully reeling a few of them in.

        • Renegade boss man says thats a fact jack on Holt. That now is Mason this year, Spring and Long next, then Bohanan and Holt the following. All infielders.
I need to restart your computer now for those upgrades to take effect, would you like to restart now, or later.

The key will be how they do recruiting and developing pitchers and if they have to go the moon to find it that is perfectly acceptable.

Word has it that the Finney girl from Wamego (pitcher) will be at Maize this year. Surprise, surprise. Already verbally committed to OU I hear though.

                • Nothing new, but Long and Bohannon verbal commitments mention in Joanna Chadwick Varsity Kansas blog:

                  • Visited with Olathe East pitcher Jenni Brooks who helped them win the state championship earlier tonight and she told me she has committed to be a Shocker next year. Brooks pitched for the KC Peppers in the ASA National Gold Tournament this past summer, winning several games over southern teams. Peppers finished ninth in the 75 team field which consisted of the best recruited teams in the country. She was named to the second team NFCA regional softball team which includes Texas and Oklahoma pitchers. A good pickup for Coach B and the team. Real nice to see someone finally going after our girls. Just my opinion, but all six of the Kansas girls picked up for 13 and 14's will help out as will some of the incoming out of state players we have gotten wind of. Three in state players of that caliber in each recruiting class and in a couple years WSU will be competing for a Valley title.

                    • Anyone else notice on the roster that there are two transfers listed. McCraken (KU) catcher and Vandever (OU) SS. There seems to be a differnet sort of recruiting happening as well. There is suppose to be two more "walk on's" on campus as well.

I had not noticed that. Good find. Megan McCracken, out of Olathe North, is actually a transfer from Kent State. Laura Vickers, out of Olathe East, transferred from Kansas last year and only played in 9 games before missing the remainder of the season. Laura is listed as a RS Sophomore so she must have been granted a medical redshirt for last year.

HCKB must have some pretty good relationships going in the Olathe area. In addition to Megan McCracken (Olather North) and Laura Vickers (Olathe East) we have incoming Fr Paige Mason (St. Thomas Aquinas) on the roster. In addition, as noted above we have a verbal commitment from pitcher Jenni Brooks (Olathe East - 2013). In addition, we have Kelli Spring (Mill Valley - 2013) from just north of Olathe coming in next year.

Another roster addition is Jr. 1B Abby Furstenberg out of Maize HS via Butler County.

That is 7 Kansas kids on this year's roster compared to only 3 in HCMP's final year.

Also, I noticed Sammie Shook is not listed on the roster so that would seem to answer the question raised by @baylor84..

Nor is Tanna Hinthorne, the Juco pitcher from Lake Land College, listed on the roster which would confirm the statement made earlier that she was going to give up softball.

And pitcher Katherine Johnson is not on this year's roster so she has apparently moved on. Not sure whether that was voluntary of whether she was invited to move on but she was HCMP's last recruit I believe.

With Hinthorne a no show and Johnson departing looks like Fr. Hunter Stohlmeyer will step into the rotation with Katie and Sloan.

Perhaps the BIGGEST roster loss though is that Sydney Stuever is not listed. That really hurts if Sydney has decided she no longer can or wants to play.

Rachel Milnark is not listed on this year's roster either and she seemed like she was a going to be a very solid player.

So, assuming this is the final roster for 2012-13 there will be some significant turnover with Stuever, Milnark, Shook and Johnson not returning and Hinthorne a no-show.

Does anyone have any insight on this turover.

                        • The way I understand it, Sammie is doing an internship as part of her degree program and is being paid which automatically disqualifies her from being elligible to play per NCAA regulations. Hate to see her go, but glad to see Vickers back as well as McCracken on the roster. Great hitter.

Some will now question why so many Kansas girls, but I tell you, there are going to be over 50 girls from Kansas now in HS play D-1 ball at sometime in their life, why shouldn't WSU get some of them.

I understand that Butler will have at least six girls sign D-1 after this year and I know for a fact that three of them turned down offers in the past week because of the timing and will contribute to a possible national tournament run again this season.

Pitching will again be key, but in the coaches defense, all the good pitchers have been committed for two years. Picking up the OE girl to replace Katie next year will help, but still need to find someone to bring it. (Look 30 miles east)

                          • @Hovpen any thoughts or info on Stuever and Milnark? Both ladies were 2nd team All-MVC last year as a freshman and sophomore respectively.

I believe Sydney had some off-season surgery so I am wondering if her not returning was injury related?

                            • No thoughts, but surprised they aren't listed. Saw Syd a couple times at TRYC this summer and she was gun ho........... Those two bats would be tough losses and combined with Sammie who was All-League as a sophomore lower my expectations come spring. Milnark does have a sophomore profile up. I wonder if they just missed putting her on the roster.

Edit: Additional information is Syd tore up her shoulder again and is calling it quits but don't quote me on that.

I will hold out hope that someone has just made an error in listing the roster at this point but I agree, if Sydney and Rachel, in fact, are not returning then those would indeed be very tough losses to absorb.

Doesn't look like any of the bios have been updated yet other than the class year and experience. However, Sydney's and Rachel's bios have not even been updated for those two items. So I'm thinking it is not looking too good.
