        Game Two

        Shockers at Charlotte

Same first six in the lineup, then Cassie C, Camryn 3B, and Lauren. Erin is in the circle.

Walljasper is pitching for the Niners.

A walk in the Shocker first, two walks in the first for Charlotte. 0-0 after one.

With two outs, Cassie singles and moves to second on an outfield error, but Camryn fans. A single for the Niners in their half, but no score after two.

Lauren leads off the third with a walk, but nothing else is going on. Vannoy, the big bopper for Charlotte, leads off their third with a homer. A double, walk, and single load the bases with one out. A double unloads the bases. 4-0 Charlotte.

A single by Zoe, an error on Lolo's grounder, and a walk to Bailey load the bases. Another grand slam by the Shocks as Cassie homers. 4-4 as we go to the bottom of the fourth. Vannoy (her again) gets a one-out triple. One out later, a single drives her home. 4-5.

          Cassie Passwaters grand slam! 4-4.

McDonald has really struggled. Probably best to go to the bullpen next inning.

The Charlotte #2 starts the fifth for them in the circle. Addison leads off with a double and scores on a single by Zoe and subsequent throwing error. Erin gets a 1-2-3 inning in the bottom half. 5-5 after five.

Lauren strokes a one-out single in the sixth and the Shocks move to the top of the order. Lauren is caught stealing, P to SS. A delayed steal? Surely not. Strange. Sydney follows with a double (of course), but Addison ends the inning.

Erin issues a lead-off walk in the bottom of the sixth, and Alison comes on in relief. She is greeted with a run-scoring double and a homer (Vannoy again). Two singles follow and Jordyn comes on in relief. Still no outs for the Niners. With one out, a single loads the bases and a hit-batter scores another run. This is getting real ugly, real fast. A ground out scores one more run. 5-10 and on to the seventh.

Singles by Neleigh and Zoe lead off the inning. With one out, Bailey walks to load the bases. Walljasper is back in. A wild pitch scores one run and Cassie's infield single scores another. Fly out, ground out and we have a bal game.

            Shockers 7-10 Charlotte

Three hits for Cassie including the grand slam and three hits for Zoe among the ten hits for the Shocks.

Erin takes the loss, being responsible for six of the ten runs. Her relief help was not much help, however.

                Well said.

It is looking like our preseason concerns about how our pitching would hold up were well founded.

Have we found our catcher of the future in Cassie Passwaters?

Not sure I want to see a rating of Shocker sports for this year.

The Golden Gophers roughed up the Panther starter early and held on for the win.

                    Minnesota 3-4 Charlotte
After the Niners scored four in the first, the Golden Gophers chipped away late but could not close the gap.

                      Minnesota 3-0 Northern Iowa
One big inning was enough for the Golden Gophers. There were only three hits for each team.

                        Game Three

                        Shockers v RV/RV Minnesota

Lineup: First six are the same and then Krystin 3B, Lainee C and Lauren. Alison is the starter.

Pease is in the circle for Minnesota.

I will note that Neleigh seems to be in a bit of a slump. However, she is knowledgeable enough about her swing that I doubt it will last long.

In the first, Addison homers with one out. Neleigh follows with a single and Lolo singles with two outs but no more scoring. 1-2-3 inning for Alison. 1-0 after one.

Lainee doubles in the second with one out, but a strikeout and groundout follow. With one out, the GG get a walk and an infield single, but the next two batters are outs. 1-0 after two.

Both teams are 1-2-3 in the third.

In the Shocker fourth, Bailey singles with one out and Lainee singles after another out, but Lauren cannot get them across. Minnesota leads off their fourth with a double and the runner moves to third on a groundout, but Alison fans DenHartog, their stud, and gets a groundout to end the inning. Still 1-0.

The GG bring on Leavitt, their other pitcher, to start the fifth. She immediately walks Sydney and Addison, and Neleigh's single loads the bases with no outs. But a force at home and a GIDP and the Shockers waste an opportunity.

After a one-out double to left-enter, Wylie replaces Lauren in left. An injury of some sort? Alison gets the next two batters to hold the fort. 1-0 after five.

Bailey opens the sixth with a double, and Camryn pinch-hits for Kristyn. Her sac bunt sends Bailey all the way to third. Lainee scores her with a single, her third hit of the day. Sydney doubles to continue the threat, but Addison is called out on strikes. 2-0 and on to the bottom half.

A hit batter and an error in the Minnesota sixth, but they fail to score. The last out is 1-5-3, a fantastic play by Kristyn says Twitter. Heading to the last, 2-0.

Neleigh opens with a single, her third hit of the day, and Zoe doulbles her to third. Bailey is safe on a fielder's choice where both runners score on an error by the catcher. Not sure I can figure that one out. No throwing error is mentioned. Dunno. At any rate, 4-0 and on to the bottom of the seventh. NOTE: Twitter says the error was on the SS. That makes more sense.

The Golden Gophers draw a one-out walk and follow with a single. A force out a third - two on with two out. Another force out and Alison has her shutout!

                        Shockers 4-0 Minnesota

Alison is what the shouting is about in this game ... but Charlotte has already cleared the form for their game which follows.

Detailed stats will have to wait for the boxscore on the Shocker site. She only allowed four hits though.

On the hitting side, the Shocks had twelve hits, three each by Lainee and Neleigh. Addison had a homer in the first.

I hope letting that bases loaded, no out scoring opportuniyt in the 5th doesn't come back to bite the Shocks.

Another complete game from Alison Cooper against a good opponent. Now to even it up with the Niners tonight!

Outstanding effort by Alison bouncing back from her shaky outing yesterday.

Has anyone seen Georgina Corrick’s numbers so far this year? 41 innings giving up ONE earned run. 59 strikeouts to 4 walks. Opponents batting 130. That includes starts against some solid competition.
