Suprised to see that the Shocks are just now getting started then I noticed that the MSU-UTA game went 10 innings with neither team scoring in extra innings until UTA pushed across the winning run in the bottom of the 10th even though the tiebreakers rules went into effect in the 8th. Put that on top of the schedule already running behind and here we are.

Erin is in the circle. Addison is in right, Kaylee at second, Wylie in left. Those folks have been in those positions before, but I am not sure if this exact lineup has played. This one is starting only a couple of hours behind the published schedule. Two tiebreaker games will do that to you.
A walk and a hit batter for the Shocks in the first, and a walk for the Mavericks, but no runs for either team.
In the second, UTA leads off with a single and advances the runner to third but no further. 0-0 after two.
The Shockers dent the board (and home plate) in the third. Wylie singles to lead off and Addison walks one out later. Butters doubles to score both of them and moves to third on the throw home. She then scores on Neleigh's single, and the Mavs change pitchers. A single by Bailee and a hit batter load the bases. From there, a wild pitch scores one more. 4-0 Shockers as the game moves to the bottom of the third. Four pitches and three outs as I typed. Now 4-0 after three complete.
With two outs, the Shocks load the bases in the fourth on an error, a double by Neleigh, and a hit batter, but Bailee lines out to end the threat.
Interestingly, HCKB had five position changes for the defense in the bottom half. The only batting order change was Lauren Lucas entering the game in Neleigh's spot. It must have helped - three up, three down. Shockers continue to lead 4-0 after four. NOTE: In the NCAA, all of those position changes must be reported as well as the typical batting order changes.
There is a pitching change for UTA as we start the fifth inning. Lolo walks and Wylie homers for a 6-0 lead. Sydney follows with a single. I thought the LiveStats had frozen, but Addison has a twelve-pitch at-bat before she fouls out. On to the bottom half.
The Mavs have a leadoff homer, only their second hit of the game. Shockers 6-1 after five.
This enough for tonight. Finish this in the morning - or middle of the night, depending.
Shocks go down in order in the top of the 6th. After getting an unassisted grounde out to Neleight at 1st Erin gave up a walk and a homer to left to make it a qutie a bit more interesting at 6-3. At that point Erin is replaced in the circle with Caitlyn who gets a ground out to short and a strike out to end the UTA at bat.
The Shocks have the 7-8-9 hitters up in the top of the 7th and they go down meekly in order. Up to Caityn to close this game out although I am sure if she falters BaileyL would be available to assist if needed. Caitlyn gives up a lead off single to open the bottom of the 7th. The next UTA batter worked the count full, fouled off 2 pitches then popped out to Shocker 1st baseman Neleigh Herring. The next UTA batter also fouled off two pitches with 2 strikes (2-2 count) before striking out. UTA down to its final out. Caitlyn jumps ahead in the count 1-2 before getting a grounder to short to end the game.
Pretty good start for Erin. Lost it a bit towards the end of her outing. Nice relief work by Caitlyn earning her 1st save of the season.
Shocks offense had couple of bases loaded opportunities in the 3rd and the 4th but were unable to come up with the needed 2-out hit to cash in.
WSU: 6R - 7H - 0E - 9LOB (5 of the runners LOB were RISP).
UTA: 3R - 4R - 1E - 3LOB

And this is the extent of my contributions today.
Scoreless after 1. Each team with a single but neither moved into scoring position.
BaileyL walks the ISU leadoff batter in the top of the 2nd. Not generally a good idea. After getting an infield pop up for the 1st out Butters erases the walk on an attempted steal and a 4-3 groundout ends the inning with BaileyL facing the minimum of 3 batters. In the bottom half of the 2nd LoLo walked with 1-out but, in her first AB as a Shocker, Camryn grounds into a 4-6-3 double play.
BaileyL retires the Cyclones in order in the top of the 3rd. ISU's Karlie Charles allows an inconsequential 2-out walk in the bottom of the inning as se remain in a scoreless tie, Both pitchers have faced 11 batters in 3 innings and both seem in control at this point.
In the top of the 4th a 1-out infield single and a 2-out stolen base gives ISU the first RISP of the game. An error by Ryleigh Buck at 3rd makes it runners at 1st and 2nd with 2-out. BaileyL gets out of the inning with a 4-pitch strikeout. In the Shockers half of the 4th Butters reached 2nd on a 2 base error by the ISU center fielder with Lauren Johnson inserted as a pinch runner. Ryleigh sac bunted Lauren to 3rd base. However, BaileeL grounded out to third with Lauren holding and LoLo flied out to left as the Shockers fail to tke advantage of the best scoring opportunity of the game so far. We remain in a scoreless tie.
In the top of the 5th a one out error on Kaylee at 2nd and a sac bunt gave ISU a RISP with 2 outs. A line drive to caught by BaileeN in centerfield ends the ISU at bat. In the bottom half of the inning Camryn, in only her 2nd career collegiate AB, led off with a double to left center. Kaylee sac bunter Camryn to 3rd. Jessica Garcia entered the game as a pinch hitter for Wylie and on an 0-1 count delivered the games 1st run with a single to center. Wylie was then reinserted for Jessica to run the bases. At that point ISU made a pitching change with Ellie Spelhaug on in relief of Karlie Charles. An infield single by Sidney put runners on 1sty and 2nd with 1 out. Addison reached 1st on a fielders choice with Sydney forced out at second 4-3 and Wylie moved to 3rd. Addison advanced to 2nd on a wild pitch but Wylie held on to 3rd. In need of a clutch 2-out hit Butters delivered with a triple to center scoring Wylie and Addison extending the Shocker lead to 3-0. Ryleigh grounded out to end the inning.
BaileyL retired the 1st two batters in the top of the 6th before giving up a single to right and an infield single putting Cyclones at 1st and 2nd and bringing the tying run to the plate. BaileyL went to a 3-2 count on the next batter before getting a grounder to Ryleigh at 3rd who made the force out unassisted and the ISU threat was extinguished. The Shock threatened again in the bottom of the 6th as LoLo singled with 1 out and Lauren Lucas was inserted as a pinch runner for LoLo. Camryn then singled to center with Lauren moving to 2nd. However, Kaylee hit into a 6-4-3 double play to end that threat and it remains at 3-1 going into the 7th inning.
ISU's 7-hole hitter Logan Schaben led of the inning with a home run to right to make it 3-1. 11 pitches later the game was over as BaileyL induce 3 ground ball outs, 2 to short and 1 to 3rd. Shockers win 3-1.
Cyclones: 1-4-1-6 (3 RISP)
Shockers: 3-7-2-5 (3 RISP)
A number or of players stood out in this game but none more than Bailey Lange who picked up the complete game win allowing only the 1 run on a 6th inning Cyclone home run and she gets my Player of the Game vote.
But how about freshman Camryn Compton, in her Shocker debut, going 2-3 and breaking the scoring ice in a pitchers duel after leading of the Shocker 5th and then scoring on another freshman's, Jessica Garcia, pinch hit single. Jessica pushing to become our go-to pinch hitter if she is not already there. And, of course, the big 2-out, 2-run triple by Butters in the 5th provided the winning margin for the Shocks and proved to be the game winning hit.
Had to be some pressure on Camryn making her first collegiate appearance in place Shocker stalwart Neleigh Herring.
Probably the Shockers best win so far this year and extends their winning streak to 8 games.
Looking ahead the Shocks have a doubleheader on Tuesday at Wilkins stadium against what looks to be a pretty good South Dakota State team. They lost their season opener to Iowa State by a 2-4 score and then have won their next 7 games against Drake x 2, Northern Iowa, Butler, Oregon State, Northern Colorado and Colorado State and they play the latter 2 teams again today in Colorado. So there is a very good chance the JackRabbits will be on a 9-game winning streak when they show up at Wilkins Stadium on Tuesday.
Next weekend the Shockers host the Wichita State Tournament. They will play Omaha once, and play both North Texas and Missouri State (who they defeated this weekend in Texas) twice each. So their will be a lot of familiarity there by the end of next weekend.
