Congratulations to the Lady Shocks, Coach Rainbolt and his entire coaching staff on their AAC Championship.

The Shocks now have 3 AAC Championship trophies in their trophy case. Volleyball, women's XC and women's outdoor track and field.

Coach Rainbolt 's track program may be the most undervalued and under appreciated program I'm the WSU arsenal.

Last year's decision to redshirt half of his very young women's team looking brilliant at this point.

Rebekah Topham was named the meet's Most Outstanding Performer – an honor she also claimed at the AAC indoor meet earlier this season – after contributing a team-high 22 points in three events. About an 75 minutes after qualifying for the finals in the 1500m race on Saturday evening Rebekah won the 3000m steepchase setting a new championship record. Less than 24 hours after that she finished second in Sunday's 1,500-meter final and fought fatigue for a fifth-place run in the 5,000. Four races in about a 24 hour period. This is tough minded chick. Congratulations and much respect to Rebekah.

                Looking Ahead to Next Year:

The Shockers only had 3 seniors score a total of 15 of the Shockers 126 points this year. Kelsey Slawson scored 10 in the shot put, Alesa Frey scored 3 in the pole vault and Carlea Miles, who was slowed by injury, picked up 2 in the javelin.

Kelsey, the school record holder in the shot put, will be tough to replace. But 88% of the scoring will potentially be back including the Shockers' 2 stars Rebekah Topham and Winny Koskei. Hopefully, everyone else will return a little stronger, a little faster, a little wiser.

Last year Coach Rainbolt did not announce his list of newcomers until August so we'll have to wait a few months for that info. Newcomers to the program this year contributed 14.5 points to the Shocker total.
