Shocks denting a few cars up in Storrs late in the game today. I guess the Husky bullpen is not a strength of the team.

Buck goes yard and it's 11-3 with 2 more Shockers on base.

As I warned you in the Fall, women's volleyball and softball are UCONN's 2 worst sports.

Also, there are no cars in cow pastures.

Been said before, but it is outstanding to have intelligent and entertaining fans from other programs join in the discussion. Thanks for your participation.

I maintain there should not be a mercy rule in softball until there is a mercy rule in basketball...

If there was a mercy rule, UCONN would NEVER get to finish a game.

Fine with me. Maybe talented players would go elsewhere. Make the whole sport a lot more interesting.

Where is forevershockerfan ? Perhaps he is unaware that he Shockers scored 11 runs on 11 hits today. Usually he is highly atuned to such things.

Fr. Caitlyn Binghan is in the circle for the Shocks. The Shocks lead 2 - 1 after 3 but Caitlyn Bingham has been playing with fire.

Ryleigh Buck delivered a 2-out triple in the 1st scoring MacKenzie Wright who lead off the game with a single and Laurie Derrico who reach on an error.

UConn loaded the bases in the 2nd with no outs but a strike out and a line drive 6 to 3 double plays allowed them to escape.

A lead off double and a 1-out single scored UConn's run in the 3rd. Then with 2 outs Caitlyn walked 2 batters to load the bases before getting fly ball to LF to end the inning.

Following a lead-off single to right by Asea Webber and a Madison Perrigan sac bunt an error (presumably a throwing error) by the UConn pitcher allowed Asea to score and Madison to advance to second. Mackenzie Wright then delivered Morgan home with a single to right center. Bailee Nickerson then popped and Mackenzie was out trying to steal second to end the Shocker at bat. Shocks extend their lead to 4-2 heading to the bottom of the 4th.

Fr. Mckenzie Webber takes over in the circle for her fellow freshman, Caitlyn, to start the bottom of the 4th. Mckenzie makes quick work of UConn in the 4th. A strikeout and two ground ball outs. Another solid inning by Mckenzie in the 5th gets the Shocks to the 6th still leading 4-1.

A Madison Perrigan walk, a pinch single by Mauriana Jamele and a walk to Mackezie Wright loaded the bases for the Shocks with no outs in the 6th. UConn made a ptiching change and Bailee Nickerson greeted the relief pitcher with a two run single to right center with Mackenzie tooling over to 3rd. Bailee then stole second with Laurie Derrico at the plate. Laurie flied out to left but not deep enough to score Mackenzie. However, Paige picked Laurie up with a 2-out two run single with Paige advancing to 2nd on the throw home. Kaylee Huecker, pinch running for Paige, then took 3rd on a wild pitch. Ryeligh Buck, with a great chance to give the Shocks an 8-run lead, struck out for the 2nd out and Mckenzie Webber fouled out to the 1B. The Shocks have agains punched a hole in this won in the 6th inning and now lead 8-1.

Mckenzie Webber gives up a walk and double to open the bottom of the 6th to make the score 8-2. A no-no after your teammates just spotted you to a big lead. BaileyK is coming on in what now appears to be her ongoing role with this team. BK got the first hitter she faced to pop to short but then gave up a single to center putting runners at the corners. A 5 to 3 ground out recorded out number two with the runner on 3rd holding and the runner on 1st moving to 2nd. A fly ball out to RF ended the threat. Shocks lead 8-2 after 6.

The bottom of the order goes down in order for the Shocks in the 7th. BK walks the lead off batter in the bottom of the 7th and BL comes in to finish things up. which she does in good order with a strike out, ground out to 1st and a ground out to 2nd.

Final Score: Shockers 8 - Huskies 2. Shocks mover to 20-12 on the seaon and 3-2 in AAC play.

Not the fireworks today that the Shocks had at the end of the 1st game of the series. I guess you would call it workman-like. Shocks did a pretty good job of taking advantage of the scoring opportunities they had and they did get 5 innings out of two of the freshman pitchers although not without a few bumps along the way. Shocks should be in good shape to go for th sweep tomorrow with BL and BK.

              Game Three

Bailey is in the circle for the Shocks, and Stockley for the Huskies - the same starters as Game One.

Laurie's single in the first is the only baserunner in the game through two innings. Bailey has three strikeouts.

The Shockers put two runs on the board in the third. Singles by Morgan and Mackenzie put runners at first and third, and Bailee is hit by a pitch to load the bases. A passed ball scores one run, and an error on Laurie's ground ball scores another, both runs unearned. Bailey has another three-up, three-down bottom half.

Bailey issues a walk in the fourth but still has her no-hitter.

The Shocks add another run in the fifth. Mackenzie doubles, advances on Bailee's fly out and scores on Laurie's infield single. Shocks lead 3-0 after five.

The Shockers add a fourth run in the sixth. Asea walks and Caitlin is hit by a pitch. After Asea advances on a foul pop to the first baseman, Mackenzie singles her home.

The Huskies make it very interesting in the bottom of the sixth. A walk and infield single put two runners on, and after a fielder's choice, a pinch-hit three-run homer clears the bases. Shades of walk-offs past. (And of course I want to know if the pitch was a change - the count was 2-2.) Bailey gets the next two outs to end the inning. Shockers lead 4-3 after six.

Laurie is hit with a pitch to lead off the seventh, and Paige moves her to second with a sac bunt, but nobody can bring her around.

A leadoff single and wild pitch puts a Husky in scoring position in the bottom of the seventh, but Bailey gets a fly out, strikeout, ground out to end the game.

              Shockers 4-3 UConn

Bailey gets the complete game win, giving up three hits and two walks with six strikeouts.

Mackenzie had three hits including a double, the only extra-base hit for the Shocks. Laurie had two singles. Two of the four Shocker runs were unearned.

A sweep the Shocks needed. UConn made them sweat it it out today.

Shockers sweep UConn and Tulsa sweeps Eastern Carolina. USF takes two from Memphis and UCF takes two from Houston.
