  • Lady Shocks Host Creighton

Shocks are 6-8 and tied for 6th with Indiana State. Not really sure who would win that tiebreaker to avoid the MVC Tournament play-in round.

Shocks have 4 games remaining starting with Creighton Friday evening, followed by the final road swing of the year to winless SIU and to Evansville next wee.

If the Shocks can go 3-1 in these four games and finish 9-9 I'm reasonably confident they will finish 6th or better.

2nd place Creighton, 12-3 in league play, will be the toughest of the four games. However, the Shocks did take them to OT in Omaha before losing 48-50 in a game where both teams played poorly.

It would certainly make for a nice week with another win over the Bluejays to follow-up the Shocker men's win on Wednesday.

    Keys to the game:

WSU is 26-1 (6-0 this year) under Jody Adams when attempting more FTs than their opponent. Unfortunately, this has happened only about 30% of the time during Jody's tenure. Not sure any other key to the game is needed.

The same for women? One would assume so - the same service has a Women's RPI Report.

Shocks with a very nice home win over 2nd place Creighton tonight.

Shocks were 18-25 from the line vs 8-11 for Creighton. Shocks now 27-1 (7-0 this year) when they have more free throw attempts than their opponents.

Shocks got pounded on the boards 42-22 (including 15 to 4 on the offensive boards) but forced Creighton into a very uncharacteristic 25 turnovers while only turning the ball over 10 times themselves.

Haleigh Lankster with a big second half lead the Shocks to victory with 20 points followed by Jazimen Gordon with a career high 17.

Shocks need to shore up the rebounding work as I wouldn't want to try to make a living getting beat by 20 on the boards.

Overall though the Shocks showed good poise and toughness as they broke an 11-game losing streak against the Bluejays.

Last weeks win over MSU and tonight's win probably the two best back-to-back efforts on the season. Hopefully, the Ladies can keep it going.

And you think how far they have come since the opening conference weekend against Evansville. Was it the road game against Drake when the light came on?
