  • Shocks vs Redbirds

The loss of Peggy Riesen was no doubt a major blow for the Redbirds who are now 5-7 on the year after dropping a 23-25, 19-25, 21-25 match at MSU last night.

Sounds like they were pretty competitive though and I believe they remain a dangerous team and can't be overlooked.

    Tonight is Family Night - 4 Tickets, 4 Hotdogs, 4 Popcorns, 4 Drinks and a Top 20 Volleyball Team to support for $32 -- that's a deal.

Hopefully, we will break 3 grand tonight and bring some energy to the building to help the Shocks.

I hope you're right; a big turnout would be great. I think the Shocks will come out on fire and dominate the Redbirds. I expect to see some (WSU) blocks, service errors, service aces, great digs, etc. MEH continues her great stat trend and Emily Stockman has 30 kills. :D

Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

I'm taking two of my grandsons tonight (5-year and 2-year old) so I know they will bring some energy to the building -- 'cept I'm not exactly sure to what that energy will be directed.

SIU stays unbeaten with a 3-1 win over Evansville.

MSU, cruising, has a brain spasm in game 3 against the Trees but appear to be readty to send ISU on their way home 0-2 in the league.

UNI seemed ready to finish their road trip 2-0 when Cryton took game three. Now it's tight in game 4.

Of course, Bradley and Drake cannot afford live stats.

Indiana State just made the Lady Bears mad by winning the 3rd set.

Bears chop wood in the 4th, 25-8.

Whineton blows (appropriately) a late lead in game 4 and drops a TOUGH 4 set match to the Panthers.

                  25-23
                  25-22
                  22-25
                  28-26

Emily was outstanding tonight IMHO. If she continues playing at this level does she have a shot at 1st team All-America?

Absolutely dominating performance by the team in Set 3.

Hoop had a very nice night at the service line.

Shocks took care of business this weekend to put position themselves for a BIG match vs MSU next Friday.

Shocks with only 5 hitting errors in 90 attacks.

42-5-90 for a 0.411 team hitting % for the match is pretty impressive.

Stockman, Backes and McGee were a combined 29-1-54 = 0.5185.

                        Holy Crap, Batman!

Serving was also much better tonight with 6 Aces and only 6 service errors and 2 of those were uncharacteristic mishits by Waldo.

                        :good: :goshocks:

I'm a little disappointed we didn't break the 3 grand mark with our attendance Saturday night but it was a decent crowd, the majority of whom probably did not realize they are/were participating in athlete recruitment -- and not just for the VB team.

                            Coach Adam's latest Twit-Bit:

Sitting at the volleyball game with recruits family. They love the SHOCKER fans and VBall team. :).
                            Go Shocks!

My favorite play of the ILS match if I am remembering this correctly:

Emily made an outstanding diving dig of service resulting in a good pass to Hoop, scrambled up for a return set from Hoop and finished off the point with a big back row attack. Very few collegiate players in the country can make that play.
