    Did I win anything? ;-)

It's got to be the AVCA preseason poll. Sorry.

The prize is a free ticket to every volleyball match for which tickets are given away for free. ;-)

Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

Melissa Granville could also fill in there but I think she is more valuable the way Lambo used her with Kelly last year. Melissa brings a lot of smarts and versatility to the floor in that role.

The 2009 Shockers return 10 letterwinners and six starters to a team that won a school-record 30 matches a season ago. WSU won its fourth Missouri Valley Conference title in the last five years with an 18-0 mark and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. WSU also earned its highest ranking in school history at No. 9 in the AVCA poll and finished the regular-season 29-0.

Gone from the libero position is 2008 MVC Libero-of-the-Year Kelly Broussard. In 2008, she averaged 5.38 digs per set and finished as the all-time Valley leader in career digs with 2,202. Lamb sees three players competing for the position in senior Melissa Granville, sophomore Sarah Waldorf and redshirt freshman Jackie Church. Incoming freshman Lindsey Engel will compete for time as a defensive specialist.

“We made the libero position wide open this spring between Melissa Granville, Sarah Waldorf and Jackie Church,” Lamb said. “Going into the season, I’d say Granville is slated to be our libero because of her experience, reads, and plays that she makes. I would also say that day in and day out it has been very competitive, but over the course of six or eight days Melissa continues to be the one most suited to be the libero. It has certainly been very competitive.”

I think Melissa will do a very good job at the Libero position. Hard to beat her smarts and experience. Sarah looks to be very athletic but she could probably use another year of seasoning before taking over at the Libero position.

I don't know much about Jackie Church, but I like hearing that things are very competitive at practice.

DANDY LIONS: (All-around high school talents who project as back row animals at the next level)

              FIRST TEAM

Melissa Granville, Sr. Golden Sierra (Garden Valley, California) – A four-year starter at outside hitter in high school, Granville, who plays libero for Gold Cal, should transition easily to the back row full time when she attends Wichita State on scholarship in the fall. A strong athlete, Granville understands what it takes to be big time in the back row and doesn’t let anything get in her way. She has the quicks to run down balls and the intensity to stand in against even the most physical attacks. Her passing prowess ranks among the nation’s best. She is a steal for the Shockers.

The preseason AVCA poll apparently has WSU at #18. http://volleytalk.proboards.com/inde...y&thread=27659
