This is some match. I have only watched probably 10 WSU volleyball matches and this has made me wish we had some more to play this season. Hopefully one day we can get on this national stage. I am so proud of the shocks.
I was thinking the same thing RDB. I'm already looking forward to Shocker VB next fall.
Penn State sweeps Stanford to win is second consecutive National Championship and complete an undefeated season, losing only the 2 sets to Nebraska last night.
Great team. Arena looked full again tonight although not nearly as animated as the semi-finals.
Just a great match. I thought the grading system for serve receive Karch spoke of was very interesting, although I wish he had talked about the three options, two options, etc.

Yeah, that was interesting. My guess is Lambo uses somthing like that as he is a stat freak and grades all of his practices as well as games.
I assume zero options is a reception error that results in a service ace or a pass that does not make it to the setter.
BTW, 14,299 in attendance reported for the Chamipionship game. Not bad. Gotta tip you hat to Nebraska fans for their support.
The Penn State squad might be considered the best ever according to the announcers.
I didn't get to watch the championship game, so I didn't get to see the interview you guys are talking about. But from what '72 is saying that's exactly what it is. A 0 is if the serve reciever shanks the ball out of bounds or if it is unplayable. A 1 would be mostly if anyone that gets the second ball has to go high and outside with the set because that's really the only angle they can get. A 2 is usually if the setter has to move to where she can only set the pins. Leaving a 3 which she's able to set any set she wants. It's the most common way of taking serve recieve stats, and really the easiest. What's usually done is someone on the sidelines stats who passes and what corresponding number they passed. Average it out, and you have your "passer rating" I guess you could call it. D1 coaches usually want about a 2.3-2.5 for their serve recievers...higher for liberos

Thanks for the explanation. I was pretty sure that was the progression: no set, left outside only, outsides only, outsides or middle or ... . At one point, PSU had a 2.4 and Stanford was at 2.1.
