Perhaps somewhat. However, based on what Coach Lamb has described the selection process for VB is on its face different than Basketball.

VB is classified as a Tier 3 championship (I believe I am stating what Lambo said correctly) based on the revenue generated.

As such they only seed 16 teams on a National basis. These 16 teams may or may not host a sub-regional.

Once the sixteen sites are selected the 16 national seeds are each assigned to a regional. The remaining 48 teams are then assigned to a regional based as much as anyhting on geographical proximity, although there are other considerations such as avoiding multiple teams from the same conference in the same sub-regional. Once that is completed they seed each of the 16 sub-regionals 1 through 4.

Looks like the Shocks have drawn one of the short straws again.

But it is what it is. Might as well get one of the top National seeds out of the way sooner than later.

I've gotten to watch some of the top players on a lot of the top teams while they were training with the Olympic teams in Colorado. And I have to say, if we get past Rice, we're going to have one hell of a time defending Destinee, she flat out jumps, Kelly will basically have to be sitting butt down on the 3 meter line to have a chance at some of her hits, she just gets so far over the blockers it's almost not fair. She's a dual athlete doing the high jump for the Longhorns and if I'm not mistaken she's a record holder.

Did I see correctly that Tulane was the #16 seed? Although they have to go to Dayton for a regional.

Dayton at 21-12 gets to host and they get the #16 seed placed in their regional. :blink:
