It is still possible for the Shocks to host a sub-regional, even if the fall to a #2 seed and that is because of the prospects for large crowds.

Shocker fans showed very well Friday night vs MSU and, no doubt would have done as well or better if the Shocks had made it to the finals.

MSU also killed us in blocking. I don't know the numbers but I know what it looked like. And how many times can that one girls split the block? Seemed like she did it every time they set her.
Our blocking was also very poor during long periods of the match. :(

Just a little rant, hate to see the local girls get dumped on. Please don't make me drive to Lincoln again.
AJ seems like a steady influence and she is very smart. I wish she had played.

Stats have MSU with 11 blocks and the Shocks with 10.

We had a swing for the match at 15-14, but Lindsey was blocked and the Bears finished from there.

I am disappointed, but as has been pointed out, not nearly as disappointed as the team and coaches.

Let's give somebody fits at a regional!

That set to the left side OH was often not effective. We were too predictable in our offense. I didn't think we used our MBs enough.

I just got back from a family birthday party (for a three year old). :yahoo:

I wanted to add that some things didn't go well for the team but they are still our team and we support them. Better luck next game!!!

Every time Emily went to hit, she drew three jerseys, two on the block and back rower to cover her dinks. The other Shocker hitters didn't have this same coverage, and we didn't try to exploit that. Hooper was not crisp at all tonight and we had lots of bad luck with balls bouncing funny off of our blocks, but we didn't make the Bears diggers work all that hard with the soft shots we were putting over. I'd like to see shots come from the right side more to change the angles the back rows have to cover, so their defense won't be set as well the whole match.
As far as who gets the set that's not 100% the coaches call. The setter is really the one who distributes based on how the passes are coming to them. The sets to the middles and right tend to be the better passes. We passed bad most of the game. Hooper was trying to save the ball a lot of times rather then having a chance to make a good set. Those times when we did get good passes she was not connecting well on the left for most of the match and had a number of poor sets especially the first 2 sets. The timing was not there. I was dissipointed that on a good pass for match point that she went to the left, but 2 points later we were blocked in the middle to lose the match, so *shrugs*.

Maybe if you were good at anything besides video games that might mean something. Those girls gave their hearts out there......They feel about 1000 times worse than you or any of us. Sorry you're so dissappointed.
Before you melt on down like a popsicle, think real for a second.

How have we faired in our last 4 or 5 Valley tournaments? Isn't fair to say we've underachieved a bit in Valley tourney play? My God, don't be so dramatic.

How do you know I'm good at video games..hmmm?

I do wish I still had some time to whoop up some newbs in College Hoops 2k7 though.. those were the days.. ahhh..

The girls are disappointed. Can't the fans be disappointed? It was a great season. It would've been nice to see an NCAA tourney game inside Koch. I think that was one of the goals of the season. We can't sugar-coat everything in this world Doc, no matter how much you want it to be like Candyland.

Great season. Disappointing finish. Good luck ladies on the road, wherever it may be..

I think it might depend how well the MVC finals are attended. If they can get around 4000 or so, then the committee may give Wichita the bid seeing that the tournament was well attended without the Shockers even being in it.

However, as disappointing as tonight's loss is, I would like nothing better than to go to Lincoln and pull of a huge upset to get to the Sweet 16.

Probably a long-shot, but not impossible if, in fact, that's where we end up.
I thought Nebraska wasn't hosting this year for some reason?
The Final Four site (Omaha) and the 4 Regional sites (Colorada State, Penn State, Texas and Washington) have been set.

However, 1st and 2nd round sites (sub-regionals if you will) are yet to be determined and Nebraska no doubt has submitted a bid.

We find out Sunday what our fate is.
                      Ahh, that's right. Thanks 72.

                        Barely.

You and KcShox really need to grasp the difference between playing devil's advocate and kicking your own fanbase when it's down. There are times to be a "realist" and times to just lay off. Who needs enemies when you guys are around to always "rub it in".

Uh, definitely wasn't rubbing it in. As a true fan, it frustrated me more than anything to see the team lose. Ya, I know, not more frustrating than the ladies, but close.. and I didn't even attend the game or a game this season.

I really don't think anything I said was that much out-of-line. Maybe I didn't put it in the best of ways in my frustrated rant, but I think it was all pretty accurate. I wanted us to host really bad, and since nobody matters unless you're in the Pac-10 or Big 12, this one single loss really blew it. I don't agree with it, but that's how it goes. I was really hoping to pull it out in front of one of the biggest crowds of the season.

Maybe they'll surprise us on the road. Sometimes it's even more fun shutting up the opposing fans in a hostile environment anyways.

                          Here's to hoping anyways..

And you've gone after a couple of basketball players after a particular loss or tough game. So, please don't act like it's only limited to a couple individuals.

First, it's frustrating to see that this program can't finish the job lately in the tournament. The track record speaks for itself. It is not my intent to kick the team or fellow fans down, however, in this season in particular, it is a sad state of affairs that the Shox have to be perfect in order to host a regional. Now that they blew it, it really does suck that the team will not be rewarded for their hard work and great regular season. I know, there is a chance, a snowballs chance that is.

How many times does this program have to lose in the tourney to get things figured out? They have the bullzeye on their backs and they can't rise up to finish off the league?.....Again? It's frustrating for me to know that since we are WSU and we are in the MVC, the program is already pissing in the wind in regards to their hosting possibilities. They had to be perfect and they weren't, that is frustrating. There it is.

After reading all the articles about the big MS win I believe we might have been out coached, or out coached ourselves. Seems the MS coach went with her gut and feel and made some changes that produced a very successfull weekend. I realize that CL puts alot of trust in stats and numbers, from practices and games. No doubt it has been very good for the team, but at what point do you go with your gut. We made some lineup changes toward the end that were good at the time, but were they good for the team and for the season. Yes, it is just one loss but we seemed to have a few more struggles toward the end. This probably doesnt make a ounce of sense, oh well.

Boyshocker, it takes guts to criticize the coach for a 29-1 record. It's your right but I wouldn't do it. He has made our program.
