    MSU played very well tonight.

WSU made a lot of mental errors and were out of sync. Hoop just wasn't connecting with the hitters for much of the night.

MSU also killed us in blocking. I don't know the numbers but I know what it looked like. And how many times can that one girls split the block? Seemed like she did it every time they set her.

For some reason the Shockers just don't fare well in the MVC Tournament.

Not sure why. I know Lambo dislikes the tournament a great deal.

I'm getting to dislike it quite a bit myself.

I agree on not connecting with the hitters for much of the night. Early on, there was little from the middles which (with my limited knowledge) leads me to think we were losing the serve-receive part of the match.

Stats have MSU with 11 blocks and the Shocks with 10.

We had a swing for the match at 15-14, but Lindsey was blocked and the Bears finished from there.

I am disappointed, but as has been pointed out, not nearly as disappointed as the team and coaches.

Let's give somebody fits at a regional!

The Bears were fantastic. They were also without their starting setter and I think one other player.

Get used to what you saw tonight. They are only going to get better. #21 is a freshman.....their best players were Fr and So.

Congrats to them....they were the better team tonight unfortunately.

So. middle Bethany Fuller who hit .283 on the season managed .593 (17-1-27) for what has to be the match of her career.

.593.........I'm not sure Nebraska had a girl hit .593 against us.

We may still get a regional hosting assignment, but I think the loss tonight makes that a very iffy proposition. At most a 50-50 proposition, if that.

However, as disappointing as tonight's loss is, I would like nothing better than to go to Lincoln and pull of a huge upset to get to the Sweet 16.

Probably a long-shot, but not impossible if, in fact, that's where we end up.

Maybe if you were good at anything besides video games that might mean something. Those girls gave their hearts out there......They feel about 1000 times worse than you or any of us. Sorry you're so dissappointed.
Before you melt on down like a popsicle, think real for a second.

How have we faired in our last 4 or 5 Valley tournaments? Isn't fair to say we've underachieved a bit in Valley tourney play? My God, don't be so dramatic.

How do you know I'm good at video games..hmmm?

I do wish I still had some time to whoop up some newbs in College Hoops 2k7 though.. those were the days.. ahhh..

The girls are disappointed. Can't the fans be disappointed? It was a great season. It would've been nice to see an NCAA tourney game inside Koch. I think that was one of the goals of the season. We can't sugar-coat everything in this world Doc, no matter how much you want it to be like Candyland.

Great season. Disappointing finish. Good luck ladies on the road, wherever it may be..

I hate to have the be the one who says this, but here goes:

I brought my sister with me to tonight's game, she's an athletic trainer at her high school, and she pointed out a few things the novice eyes I'm watching the game through missed.

First of all, she saw that Broussard was favoring her braced knee. Upon closer inspection, I noticed myself that Kelly wasn't everywhere on the court like she usually is. It was bugging her quite a bit, and when she was walking, there was a hitch in her step.

Lambo didn't rotate her so she'd see less action until Game 3. Our digging improved after this, don't know if it was the rotation or more aggressive play, but a sore knee could have been the reason for this.

Secondly, this is my observation, Lambo did not adjust the offense to counter the Bears D. Every time Emily went to hit, she drew three jerseys, two on the block and back rower to cover her dinks. The other Shocker hitters didn't have this same coverage, and we didn't try to exploit that. Hooper was not crisp at all tonight and we had lots of bad luck with balls bouncing funny off of our blocks, but we didn't make the Bears diggers work all that hard with the soft shots we were putting over. I'd like to see shots come from the right side more to change the angles the back rows have to cover, so their defense won't be set as well the whole match.

Then again, what do I know? We'll see how it all shakes down, I suppose. Hope Kelly's ok. :goshocks:

Sad. The only way to cure this is to win some matches in the next few weeks.

The Final Four site (Omaha) and the 4 Regional sites (Colorada State, Penn State, Texas and Washington) have been set.

However, 1st and 2nd round sites (sub-regionals if you will) are yet to be determined and Nebraska no doubt has submitted a bid.

We find out Sunday what our fate is.
