This team is very good. They deserve to be where they are and they deserve better local coverage. If they weren't tucked away on page 3 of the sports section when they win their 22 match of the year, attendance might be 10% higher. It's a slap at worst and a terrible mistake at best.

Why doesn't the newspaper list the other two undefeated teams in the country and who they are playing. That's information many would like to know? In an age where newspaper readership, subscriptions and creditability is declining and ad revenue is dropping off the map...you would think that the newspaper would be eager to meet the needs of people who are actually still looking to it for information. Instead, they are more concerned with pushing their editorial bias to anyone that will listen.

As for Matt Browning, I did read the story and his quote saying "It was purely survival for WSU..." was not the case at all. Does 75 kills to 44 kills sound like purely survival? Even Coach Lamb commented that his team crushed Drake in three sets. If you're dating Matt Browning great, but it reads to me like he's trying to add drama when it wasn't the case or needed. The fact that WSU is 22-0 is all I need to see and when they will be playing at home so I can take my girls to another game.

If we were talking about some other team ranked 10th with no wins over top-25 teams would you have replied similarly?

No one is saying they don't deserve to be ranked.
Cal Poly will probably end up ranked at the end of the season. If the Mustangs make a nice NCAA tourney run, we'll look pretty good.

Our Pablo ranking is #14 and Pablo "predicts" that we would win at home and lose on the road to (Pablo) #9 Illinois - (Pablo) #22 Florida.

Our RPI ranking is #16. http://volleytalk.proboards88.com/in...d=23827&page=1 Here is a quote from RichKern in the RPI thread (page 2):
I went down to #16 (Wichita State) (#14 Pablo) because it shows why they have a much lower RPI, even though their own record is perfect.

With both Pablo and RKPI showing about the same ranking yet AVCA showing them at 10, you can how it is difficult to get a good handle on a team that does not play the other top teams. Through the RPI, the NCAA is encouraging anyone who wants to be in the top 16 to play the best competition they can so the committee can have a better idea of how they really do compare.

WSU just needs to keep winning. If we finish the season at 31-0 (before the NCAA tourney), we will be seeded with a Top 16 RPI.

Lambo and the players seem to be enjoying he recognition as well they should as long as they keep things in perpsective.

I think we will fall out of the Top Ten this week. This is not because we lost a set at ISU and at ISU but because of the success of teams behind us.

Florida is only 12 points behind us. USC just had a huge win over #7 Oregon and are only 76 points behind us. I think it helps that Oregon State almost beat USC and I hope you're right.

I'm not worried about Florida too much. The HOME win over an average Ole Miss team is not that impressive, while the Shocks picked up to wins on the ROAD.

Cal, on the other hand did have an impressive weekend, but I'm hoping we can hold them off.

As crazy as it sounds I think Texas and Nebraska losing helps us a lot if we do keep the 10th spot. It shows just how hard it is to do what we have been doing up thru this point in time.

Considering how long Florida was in the TOP 10 with an unimpressive record (with wins over Long Beach State and Kentucky as the only good wins), I wonder if there are poll voters who had to rank Florida lower after the loss to Georgia who are looking for any excuse to vote UF higher.

On the bright side, from a points perspective, we're closer to 9th than we were last week.
