Maybe this fires the girls up a little for this weekend to try and get back in to the top 10. So they go out take care of business in three both nights

Yep, I missed that one, although it was pretty close! Wished I could say that will be the last time.

However, I'm not ready to cry over a #11 national ranking.

What I am really focused on is whether or not we can host a regional this year. If we can make that happen, then we will have the opportunity to show where we belong in the national rankings in the post season.

I think we can afford one loss to either UNI or MSU on the road or, alternately, a loss in the MVC Tournament finals and still host.

An undefeated season going into the NCAA's would certainly be something to be proud of, but it won't be easy especially with the last two regular season matches on the raod at UNI and at MSU and two tough matches in the MVC Tournament.

If we end up at #11 in the final rankings after the NCAA Tournament, I will be very happy.

1972: No harm intended. Our RKPI dropped again - to #19. This may hurt our chances of hosting. The MVC is hurting us right now.

UNI and MSU are still left on the schedule.

Win out and we'll be hosting. The NCAA would be an idiot not to.

The difficulty in guessing what the NCAA will do in Volleyball is that geographic location and minimizing travel costs seems to be a much bigger consideration than rankings, RPI or record.

How much impact the dollar amount of a school's bid carries I don't know, but if you sweeten the pot enough it has to be of some impact, although the minimum bid is quite I believe.

With road games remaining vs UNI and MSU and (hopefully) two MVC Tournament game against quality opponents we might be able to improve our RPI. Then again we might not. Cal Poly's relatively poor season so far has not helped our RPI either.

Colorado State, Penn State, Texas and Washington have already been selected as the 4 regional sites (3rd and 4th rounds), so I expect they will also host 1st and 2nd round matches. Nebraska will no doubt host.

It may come down to WSU or K-State. Maybe we could have playoff match with K-State to see who gets to host. We could draw a hell of a crowd if held in Wichita. Ain't gonna happen, but it would be fun.

The thought of a Saturday night crowd with a birth in the Sweet 16 facing KState in a packed Chuck honestly brings tears to my eyes.

What parameters do they use to pick these sites? Do the schools make a bid before the season begins?

What are the odds WSU could land a regional hosting site sometime in the future?

                      It wouldn't be packed.

We don't support volleyball very well at Wichita State.

You're schtick is getting so old. It most likely would be close to packed, actually, and partly due to the fact that KState would provide a good bit of that support.

You'll also notice I said the "thought" which does infer that it might just be a dream and not a reality.

I figured you Doc, of all people, would know how to spot sarcasm - yes, even on an internet message board. I thought it was pretty obvious.

And just for the record, your fan-whining is getting old. If you're done with it, then I'm done with it.. :good:

That's a good question for which I have no good answer. Perhaps that is something Paul Suellentrop could research sometime.
