This team has guts and fight that most of us only dream of...........

They did not execute tonight....not at all. Many of them did not play well. MEH had the worst match I have seen from her this year but it speaks to her talent and effort that she was still pretty darned good and we wouldn't have won without her.

Bigtime kudos to Amanda and Kim. It is so hard to sit on the bench all night then be thrust into the game and be able to maintain your composure while at the same time bring energy and a spark and play at the very top of your game. Both ladies accomplished all of these goals.

Kelly was amazing.....actually amazing is an insult. As Obama said a couple of days ago, her only fault last night is that it's possible she was a little too awesome.

It isn't every day a person can dominate from the libero position. Kelly can do that.

I can only take away 1 negative from last night's match. We don't play enough of these kind of matches. The Valley is not preparing us for post season play. UNI certainly provides that kind of competition however, if you saw us play early in the season at OU for instance, and saw how we competed against solid talent, you would see how easy it is to become complacent when you can just roll it out every Friday and Saturday.

Every time one of our programs takes it to the next level, the conference just hangs on like a dead elephant.

My question for the evening is how in the world did UNI not win 1 game against either KState or St Louis? I've seen KSU 2 times this year and they are good......but not that good. St Louis beat Stanford so I don't for a minute think they aren't really good but UNI wasn't even competitive against the Billikins and that was AT UNI.

Anyway, great win, great atmosphere and the streak continues. Keep our heads on straight and we should be 27-0 when the rematch takes place 11/15/08.

    If you didn't attend...well that's your problem.

      I echo 72's comments.

Let me add that men's basketball has been and always will be my passion. It's what I've played, coached and loved. This comes as no surprise to those of you that have listened to me chirp over the years.

I'm not sure that I've ever been more proud of any program in my life. Frankly, it's surreal. I don't think men's basketball can supplant that pride. They have a long way to go, and trust me I already DO believe in the program and repsect it. However, THESE young ladies, coaches and staff are something special.

Any idea why Sarah McGee didn't play in set 1 and a good part of set 2? I know Lambo is trying to get returning conference 1st teamer Stephanie Tokarz into the flow but it just isn't clicking so far. Sarah was really good and she is getting better every day (AS I PREDICTED LAST YEAR) and can really change the game.

I'm thinking that it might be time to shelve that experiment for awhile.

I would say that UNI doesn't play enough of these type of matches. They ran out of gas in the 4th at 15-10 how else do you explain a 15 to 1 run?
First a Baseball fan then a Volleyball fan and then I guess I follow the basketball team.

            Thank you Lady Shocks.
I would think that Friday night football games might factor into the attendance last night. Whether it be sons, daughters, friends and or grandchildren... Friday night high school football touches a lot of us. Sure wish I could have been there... lookin' forward to watching it on DVR later today.

I wish I'd realized the game was on TV before I got there. I would have DVR'd it to watch it again.

The size of the crowd was not a big as I had hoped or expected (TV not withstanding) considering the magnitude of the match and the 2 for 1 promo and at times the fans were pretty passive (with due credit to UNI).
However, the crowd did come alive when needed and perhaps did have some influence on the outcome (although the great majority of the credit goes to the girls and Lambo obviously).

                  From today's Eagle article:

"The crowd fed us down the stretch," middle blocker Sarah McGee said. "It took us to a different level and really rattled Northern Iowa."

I've got two of my kids to matches and I'm working on the third. My grandkids are already rabid Shocker fans and love volleyball. Just wait until they see a basketball game. :D

Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

Great win - listened to most of it on the radio. Btw - I must of missed it but why was Kennedy not calling the game last night?

Good question Ix. Did you find the commentary or lack thereof as brutal as I did?

Since the game was on TV, Mike did the play by play with former shocker Cori Meyer at his side.

I think Ted Woodward called the shots on the radio.

I understand high school football and the need to support family members participating in those sports and that should take priority. However, that doesn't really account for that many people. There are 36,000+ Shocker alums in the Wichita area, the great majority of whom do not have family members playing high school football.

Question: Was the curtain behind the benches/scoring table kept up because of TV or was the Athletic Department also expecting a huge crowd that did not develop? I really did not look to see if any TV cameras were located on the East side of the arena, but I am assuming it was probably for TV reasons.
