    • Houston appears to be playing better. Beating UConn and taking Temple to 5 sets before falling was a pretty good showing for the Cougars.

You and me both. Best word to describe UCONN volleyball is inconsistent.

Not sure what happened at Houston. If anything I would have predicted UCONN to sweep Houston and lose in 4 to Tulane. This has been the issue with UCONN Volleyball over the years - some good wins/showings mixed in with a bunch of WTF matches.

Maybe were not giving Houston enough credit. Temple took the first two sets today 25-18 and 25-20. But Houston came back to tie with wins in Sets 3 and 4 by cores of 25-18 and 28-26 with Temple edging the Cougs 15-13 in the decisive 5th set. If Houston continues to play like that they will be winning more conference games this season after not winning any last year.

Not sure but I heard they can really get high.

Seriously though the the Buffs look to be pretty solid this year. They are now 12-3 with losses to Penn State, Utah and Stanford. They have wins over #12 Colorado State at Ft. Collins and now #12 Oregon.

Last week they received 40 votes in the AVCA polling putting them at #28. This win may very well move them into the top 25. Possibly knocking the Shockers out of the Top 25.

An updated poll is due out today.

The Buffs led 23-21 in the fourth set (before losing in five sets) of this one and later served with one point leads before losing the fourth, 27-29. They are legit.

Kennesaw State is the other big dog in the ASUN in addition to Lipscomb and Florida Gulf Coast. This is a one-bid conference and one of them will win the Conference Tournament and advance. I think Lambo originally thought Lipscomb would win the conference, but those chances seemed to have dropped.

                          • Friday Scores

                            East Carolina 3-1 at Temple
                            Cincinnati 3-1 at UConn
                            Houston 3-0 v Memphis
                            SMU 3-1 v USF
                            Tulsa 3-2 v UCF

Along with the Shockers at 5-0 are SMU with Cincinnati at 4-1. The Bearcats got off to a bad start after losing their stud just before the season started, but they seem to have finally reorganized and appear to be playing much better.

                            • And I think Temple lost their best OH to an injury.

Yes. Mike confirmed that on the broadcast of the WSU-Houston match today.

Actually they are down their two best attackers. One for the season with an ACL tear and one who apparently is expected back.

I think 5-11 Sr. OH Irem Asci is the player who tore her ACL and is out for the season. She was averaging 3.0 K/S in the 11 matches she played in. Not sure if she will qualify for a medical redshirt or not.

I think the other injured player is 6-0 Sr. OH Dara Peric although I am not positive about that. She was averaging 1.82 K/S. She did not play Friday after starting in Temple's 1st 12 matches.
