Assuming that was the only one this year, and I think it is, the last triple-double was Chelsey Feakin against Ilinois State on November 3, 2012 with 10 kills, 36 assists and 13 digs. Chelsey had 3 career triple-doubles all in 2012 and is the only Shocker player from the rally scoring era to post a triple double until Jody Larson's triple last night. There are 7 other triple double performances all from the side-out scoring era with Terri Brown having 2 of them along with 5 other players. Five of those 7 triple doubles were kills-digs-bocks.

However, the Shocks just barely missed out on a 1st time ever occurence last night. In addition, to Jody's 12 kill, 10 assists, 21 dig triple-double Emiy Heibert just missed one of her own by 2 digs as she finished with 10 kills, 37 assists and 8 digs just missing out on a first ever double triple-double for the Shocks.

Shocks rally from down 18-22 and served for the set at 24-23 but could not put it away. Then the Shocks saved 5 set points on their way to a 31-29 first set win to take a 1-0 lead over MSU in the Valley Championship Match.

I'm far from knowledgable about volleyball, but even a casual viewer had to love that first set. That was war!
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

Shocks break out of an 18-18 tie to win Set 2 25-19 with a 7-1 run to close out the set and take a 2-0 lead.

Tabitha playing very well for the Shocks again leading the offense with 12 kills and only 2 errors on 26 attacks hitting 0.385.

Shocks outhitting the Bears 0.324 to 0.132 in Set 2 and 0.295 to 0.240 in the match and out blocking the Bears 7-3.

Abbie having a much better match in the middle but still not getting much from Katy.

Jody and Mikaela also have had solid matches so far.

Shocks strategy appears to be to serve Lily Johnson and to make her work as much as possible. Of course, if there ever was a workhorse it is Lily Johnson.

Still this match is not over by any means.

Bears save 3 match points on their way to a 26-28 win in the 3rd set to keep the match alive.

I thought the Shocks passing went a bit south in this set and Mikaela struggled some but both teams really battling hard even if it wasn't always pretty in that set.

Shocks overcome a bad line call at 24-22 in Set 4 to hold on for a 25-23 win and a 3-1 Tournament Championship victory over Missouri State in another real battle.

                      Shocks 31-29, 25-19, 26-28 and 25-23.

Shocks will be heading to the NCAA Tournament and I expect Missouri State and UNI will join them although UNI may be on the bubble.

Shockers end Missouri State's 17-match winning streak.

Shocks showed great toughness this weekend.

Shocks had 2 service aces and only 1 service error vs 3 aces and 11 service errors for the Bears to win that stat at +9 and the Shocks won the blocking stat as well 11 to 6. The Shocks also had 95 digs to 84 for the Bears. The Bears had 5 more kills than the Shocks 72-67 but had to take 26 more attacks (205 to 179) to get that advantage.

Yes. She had her ups and downs early in the season but came on strong down the stretch and has been the Shocks best attacker here late in the season.

Lambo said he was just trying to get Tabitha to have fun playing volleyball again. To enjoy the ride, to enjoy her teammates and her coaches. Looks like it is working.

Not sure who the tournament MVP was but Tabitha will be a strong contender and her Mom and Dad were there to enjoy it.

Well deserved. Jody was terrific and you tell she was very determined. A 16 kill, 16 dig, 4 assist double-double to go along with her triple-double from yesterday.

Jody lead the Shock in attack percentage today at 16-3-30 = 0.433

MSU's Lily Johnson had 23 kills but took 69 swings to get them and hit 0.246

                              Congratulations Jody.
