Lambo November 14th radio show.
Talked about the relatively new 6-2 lineup. Jody was not able to practice last week. Rolled the dice two weekends in a row and it worked. They basically are going to set up as a 5-1 and then roll into and out of the 6-2 depending what the opponent is doing. We will use 3 front row attackers (6-2) if they feel they need to or 2 front row attackers (5-1) if that is what is called for. They will bob and weave in and out of each.
Was pleased with the defensive side this weekend. When that is good they are pretty good in the Valley.
Discussed their improved blocking. Have been working on it in practice and the new scheme allows Abbie to match up in a better situation (only two attackers on the front row).
Talked about 20 wins for the 14th consecutive year. He said he isn't chasing 20 wins and it is only important if you have a quality schedule. He is more focused on building the RPI than on 20 wins.
Talked about Tabitha's and Dani's Valley honors discussed in in above post. Lambo says this will help Tabitha's confidence and reward her for her hard work.
Lambo doesn't really want to have a team that relies on only one or two players that the opponent can focus one. He prefers a balanced attack.
Talked about the incoming recruits. Kora Kauling comes in ready made as a setter. Chase Jackson's dad played basketball with Reggie Miller. Didn't really say too much about them.
Lambo talked about his focus on training and developing his entire roster and that can be atttractive to a lot of players who have potential but aren't can't miss prospects.
Talked about the big match with SIU (12-4) who has a huge opportunity taking on WSU (13-3) and MSU (14-2) this weekend and he expects SIU to be very ready to go and he expects them to play better at home than they did in Wichita earlier in the year. He wasn't sure what happened to Meg Viggars are whether or not she will play for SIU this weekend. He said he doesn't follow that stuff too closely.
Shocks now 7th in the nation in hitting percentage, assists per sets and kills per set. This is his most capable offensive team he has ever put on the floor when they are playing well.
Defense is getting better. Patted the coaches and players on the back. The realized early on that they had a problem, they addressed it, worked on it and have improved quite a bit.
