  • Shockers vs Huskers Round of 32

Lambo and the Lady Shockers seemed to have accepted the way the seeding works and, in fact, have embraced the opportunity to get to play a great volleyball program like Nebraska in a great volleyball environment in front of 8,000 fans at the Devaney Center.

"If that's going to be the way it is, then I can't imagine anything making you feel like you've made the NCAA Tournament than being right here in Lincoln, Nebraska, in this facility, and perhaps the Huskers on the other side," Lamb said. "You've arrived. You're in the tournament now. And I just dig it".
    Katie Reilly said,
"Just to be here in an atmosphere with all the fans. And the fact we get to play... say it's Nebraska. That's just an awesome opportunity."
The Shocks are no doubt a huge underdog in this match but what a great, great opportunity for them to put an exclamation point on another outstanding season. In fact, if they could somehow upset the #4 ranked Huskers it would unarguably be the greatest win in Shocker volleyball history and perhaps make this the greatest season in Shocker volleyball history.

Yeah, it's a real long shot and I expect that we will have the Huskers full attention but in sports even the improbable is possible. Hopefully, the Lady Shocks will not be intimidated and they will follow Lambo's lead and just really dig it (and I mean that literally).

Not much to add. I saw Lambo make those points last night and it just seemed to me they oozed confidence and were willing and ready to accept the challenge.

I also have to say it reminded me of his comments looking forward to USC and that exactly didn't go our way. We'll see in a few hours.

Leave it all on the floor ladies! Go Shocks!

I don't know if it is so much confidence as it is understanding the situation in that clearly the Shockers have absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain. If they lose it will not even be noticed in the volleyball world. OTOH, if the Shocks win they will be responsible for a huge outbreak of raised eyebrow strains.

Here is the video that includes Lambo's comments embracing the opportunity. Those comments are at the end of this clip.

The Volley Talk thread about this match. A lot of arguing about Abbie (who everyone acknowledges is quite good) versus the Nebraska middle, Amber. Typical back-and-forth on a board of that type.

To beat Nebraska, WSU really needs to play nearly flawless...and that is not happening.

                    21-15 Nebraska
                    78-65

                      Nebraska's float serves are ridiculous.

25-19 Nebraska. The serve-receive abandoned us midway through the set.

Shocks passing needs to be much better to give the even a slim chance in this match. They seemed a little uptight to me, especially early on. Hopefully, they have that out of their system.

In my fairly decent experience watching games this year, it seems like we violate the net a lot, disproportionately to our opponents.

Stocks still fighting their serve-receive and passing.
