Watching the 5th set of UNI vs Marquette. Panthers not looking good but hanging in there, down 7-5.

UNI is going to lose this. They can look good one point, then completely overmatched the next.

        Minneapolis Sub-Regional

        Marquette 3-2 Northern Iowa

        17, (22), 11, (23), 9

It was 8-8 in the fifth and then everything blew up for the Panthers - Marquette scored six in a row.

Thought the Valley might pick up a couple of wins in the NCAA this year but only the Shocks were able to prevail. Still the 4 Valley teams that made the dance this year are all relatively young. About the only team in the Valley this year who had much senior presence was Indiana State I believe. Both Loyola and Illinois State who were in the Top 6 are also quite young. The Valley will be very tough again next year.

Congratulations to MSU, UNI and SIU on very fine seasons.

Harvard with an early 17-15 lead in set 1. Not likely to last, but you never know.

              Somewhat of a surprise there.
Trap game....that American team is the real deal.

Harvard takes set 1. They don't look very big and I wonder how long they can hold off NU's attack.

That was short-lived. Huskers start the 2nd 9-0.

I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin', Nebraska might not sleep really soundly tonight. Our girls looked FANTASTIC. The Huskers look beatable.

                      Lawrence Sub-Regional

                      #9 Kansas 3-0 Missouri
                      16, 13, 25

The Jayhawks have to rally very late to take the third set. They advance to the San Diego Regional.

                        Palo Alto Sub-Regional

                        #8 Stanford 0-3 Loyola Marymount

                        26, 16, 23

Stanford is the first National Seed to leave us. LMU defeated Colorado State in the First Round and will play Kansas in the San Diego Regional.

Thanks! Sorry about that misinformation I posted about LMU being the 4 seed. Though they did eventually get the 1 seed I guess.

I think they get Kansas next? Could the Jayhawks make the final 4?

I think both of LMU's wins would be considered upsets, although they are clearly a strong club. Their RPI (not the best gauge of playing strength) is 27, while Colorado State is 20 and Stanford is 12. Kansas has an RPI of 8. For further reference, the RPI of the Shocks is 28.

The Jayhawks would (likely) have to beat #1 National Seed USC to get to the Final Four, so I think their chances are not great.

                                Now there's some parity.

Would it be a shock not to see 1-7, and 9 make it to the next round?
                                Deuces Valley.
                                ... No really, deuces.
