      Is fatigue becoming a factor?

            • This one is not worth giving interim scores.

                • Set Four

                  Shockers 13-25 North Texas

                  On to the fifth set.

We sound like we are out of gas. This is our third match in 24 hours.

                  • 2-1 becomes 3-6 becomes 5-8 and we change ends.

                    • A net violation makes it 6-10 and the Shockers get a timeout.

                      • Set Five

                        Shockers 10-15 North Texas

Shockers lose 2-3 after winning the first two sets. This was the first match of the tournament for the Mean Green and our third match in 24 hours. We just ran out of steam.

This one will not be pretty when the RPI is calculated.

                        • Post-game comments: We don't have enough scoring behind the setter, and teams are making the adjustment to take Mikaela away.

Could this be the first time in a long time where someone other than WSU or UNI wins the Valley regular season? (I know Creighton won once a few years ago, but they're no longer in the MVC so they don't count).

Of course the season is still quite young and things can change, but from early non-con results, it looks like Illinois State might be the team to beat.

I think this is a better tournament than a lot of people might think just looking at the names on the jerseys. No great teams, but pretty solid competition.

I had to leave towards the end of the 3rd set of the NTS match but even at the point you could sense that the tide was turning. Whether or not the Shocks just ran out of gas or just lost their focus is hard to say. Sometimes those things go hand-in-hand.

Hopefully, the Shocks will be up adequately rested and recovered to take on UTSA this morning in what should be another very competitive match.
