Yes sir. I like it. These close, competitive matches are not a bad thing for this team although they could cause more than a little stress for Lambo and the fans.

    • Well we have to find some ways to score. As it is, unless it's a quick to Katie, we don't have much to offer that's dangerous.

Perhaps they are just trying to get in as many early-season sets as possible. More sets = more practice for a young team = better late season team. I'm sure it's all just part of the plan.

          • A score of interest:

            Northern Iowa 1-3 Kentucky

            14-25, 26-24, 23-25, 16-25

Creighton is also at this Kentucky-hosted tournament as is #6 Southern Cal. UNI and Creighton play late this afternoon, while Creighton play Kentucky tomorrow night.

From the post-game comments: he thought the team gave away set two.

              • This evening's match with North Texas looks like it could be another battle. NTSU is 3-1 with their only loss to Missouri in 5 sets. The beat Northwestern State in 5 sets, and Northwestern State swept Missouri. I'm not sure Missouri is quite as good as their pre-season billing.

The Eagles also own sweeps over Mississippi Valley State and Stephen F. Austin.

The Eagles may have a distinct advantage in terms of be rested as they last played Monday at Stephen F. Austin.

NTSU is not all that big but I have a feeling they may bring some outstanding athleticism to the court. The Eagles are led by 5-8 Jr. OH Carnae Dillard who is averaging and outstanding 5.77 kills/set. This girl obviously has some ups and perhaps some quicks. 5-10 Fr. OH Alexis Wright has contributed 40 kills in 16 sets.

NTSU was picked to finish 4th in the 13 team Conference USA behind UTSA, Western Kentucky and Rice.

It will be interesting to see what the Shocks have left in the tank after yesterday evenings match vs Baylor and the tough 5-set match vs host Texas State this morning.

Just for the record, the University of North Texas (UNT) has not been North Texas State University (NTSU) since 1988.

                  • Shockers 7-5 North Texas

The Mean Green takes a timeout after five straight points by the Shockers.

Same starters as we have had all day.

Oh yeah. I guess it's my recall of their days as a member of the Valley of Death, although North Texas was not one of the deadlier members.

                        • Mike is having to use the term "overpass" way more than I like to hear when describing our passing efforts today.
