Dittos here. I was unable to follow the match this morning but I did catch the post-game interview with Lambo. He sounded pretty disgusted with the way they managed the 2nd set from the sideline and also by Chelsey. Said they just can not have that. Otherwise, he seemed pretty satisfied especially considering the early morning timing.
Also, I did not realize Tennessee lost so many players from last year. I, of course, new about All-American Kelsey Robinson transferring to Nebraska but Mike reported that in addition to that 5 other players transferred plus they lost 4 players to graduation.
They did have a very highly touted recruiting class come in included 3 Top 50 players. So tonight will be interest6ing.
Lambo also spoke very highly of VCU. So the next two matches are big opportunities for the Lady Shocks.

Interesting match as Arizona State faced off against #14 Illinois at Illinois this morning. An evenly fought match throughout. In the 5th, after losing a couple of leads, ASU served at 14-13 and by all accounts, Illinois hit the ball wide but it was called good and the Illini went on to win.

Finally ran down a box score of this morning's match on the ETSU sight.
The most positive thing I see are the offensive stats from Katie Reilly and Ashlyn Driskill. Katie was 8-1-14 = 0.500 and Ashlyn 10-2-17 = 0.471. Ashley (9-1-13 = 0.615) and Elizabeth (5-1-10 = 0.400) contributed their usual solid play in the middle but it was really nice to see Katie and Ashlyn contribute at a high level on the outside. Let's hope they can keep it going.

Nice win by the Shocks. Not sure this a real good Tennessee team. They haven't played a real strong schedule to date and the Lady Shocks certainly took them to volleyball school tonight. The Shocks are a tough team to deal with for a young team like Tennessee because of all the things they can throw at you.
VCU will probably be the toughest opponent we have in this tournament.

Here is the box score from the Tennessee match. That was one balanced attack with Katie and Ashlyn leading the way with 9 kills each followed by Elizabeth and Ashley with 7 each, Sam with 6 and Chelsey with 4 as the Shocks hit a very solid 0.363 for the match. You don't often see Chelsey with the lowest hitting %. Pretty impressive display of blocking as well.
